GLOVER - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver B Orange reported that the gelding had ran on strongly at its last start on Friday and after receiving a favourable run throughout with the addition of sliding blinds he had not been surprised with the performance. | |
OPAWA LOUIE - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer/driver K Cameron reported the gelding had been able to capitilise on a good draw and an economical run throughout. Mr Cameron added that the gelding had over-raced on Friday however had been able to settle due to the fast tempo of the race today. | |
WHITE DIAMOND GOLD - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver R Close reported that the mare had benefited from being removed from the unruly from its last start and had been able to take up a more forward position in the running. | |
BONO BROWN - late scratching on veterinary advice when found to be lame after completing its preliminary. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance. | |

JUTE - paced roughly racing into the first bend. | |
RAKERO'S DELIGHT - paced roughly and broke shortly after the start losing ground. Continued to pace roughly rounding the first bend and was eased out of the race by its driver. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised that his runner had paced roughly throughout and was unsuited to a short distance standing start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the filly. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days regarding the filly's recovery. | |

SHEEZA PURLA - held up for clear racing room throughout the run home. Driver A Cameron reported that she did not activate the sliding blinds in consequence. | |
SOUTH SEAS ROCK - raced four wide from the 700 metres. Lay inwards leaving the final bend when being shifted wider on the track by an inside runner. | |
BLUE ROCK DANCER - raced three wide without cover from the 1000 metres before being forced to race four wide from the 800 metres. | |
Trainer P Burrows advised Stewards on 16 January that RAKERO'S DELIGHT has recovered well since returning from her Nelson assignment and will continue with her current preparation. Mr Burrows added that the filly had got stirred up prior to the race and this contributed to her poor performance. |

When questioned regarding the improved performance Mr Hope reported that the horse had derived considerable benefit from recent racing and had received an economical run from an inside barrier draw today. | |

PAY ME VISA - sustained a punctured sulky tyre rounding the first bend after being contacted by the trailing CELTIC SPIRIT. Authorisation of 1st placing being awarded to CELTIC SPIRIT was withheld until Stewards had the opportunity to question driver R Close of the 2nd placed PAY ME VISA as to the effect of this impacting on his chances of beating CELTIC SPIRIT. Mr Close believed he still would not have won the race without the interference and elected not to proceed with the matter. | |
ELO LOUISE - sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 600 metres when there was an easing of the pace after ROLLYOUROWN had shifted outwards to improve its position. | |
