General

General
Pre-race blood testing was carried out.

Following two false starts in Race 8, and then a mechanical issue with the mobile when the barrier arm battery went flat preventing the arms from folding, the re-start of this race was changed to a moving start with a significant delay to the start. A replacement battery was sourced for the mobile and following testing of the barrier arms Race 10 was confirmed as a mobile start.

As a result of the delayed start to Race 8, Race 9 was rescheduled to start at 4.13pm and Race 10 rescheduled to start at 4.42pm.

Some leniency was given when issuing penalties against horses due to the prevailing track conditions.

Supplementary

Westport TC - Sunday, 26th December 2021
Race 7 - PULSE ENERGY WESTPORT CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
Driver B Hope (HOMEBUSH LAD) was shown a replay and spoken to advisedly for using his whip in a continuous manner over the concluding stages.
Race 8 - KAWATIRI PALMS BEACH PARK MOBILE PACE
Stewards spoke with driver J Dunn regarding WITH GRACE being out of position at the start. After considering the matter and viewing the replays which confirmed Mr Dunn's explanation, Stewards placed a warning on the barrier record of WITH GRACE.
