Driver D McGowan admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip & Rein Regulations for using his whip free of the rein on several occasions when driving ELATED in the early stages of the run home at the Auckland Workouts on 30 October 2021. After considering submissions on penalty, Mr McGowan was fined $400 by the Adjudicative Committee.

Race 8 - DUNSTAN RECOVERY MASH MOBILE TROT
Stewards have concluded an investigation into the breastplate breaking on IN SEQUENCE in the run home. After hearing from co-trainer B Hackett and viewing the gear, it was established that a clip had broken resulting in the saddle slipping causing driver S Phelan considerable difficulty. Stewards were satisfied Mr Hackett was not at fault and accordingly took the matter no further.

Race 1   WELCOME BACK ON TRACK MOBILE PACE
BETTERTHANYOUTHINK - weakened final bend. Driver O Gillies was issued with a warning for loose reining.
TWICE SHY - driver R Fensom was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion leaving the final bend.
MERCURY RISING - lay outwards throughout the run home.
MY COPY - hung inwards through the middle stages losing ground.
UPSIZE ME - hung inwards and paced roughly through the middle stages. Forced wider on the track near the 900 metres and raced wide without cover thereafter. Paced roughly again when weakening final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Butcher reported that the gelding had raced lethargically throughout and had been disappointing. Co-trainer S Telfer advised the gelding would be sent for a spell.
Race 2   BOOK YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY AT ALEX PARK MOBILE PACE
M T POCKETS - hung inwards and had to be steadied racing into the first bend.
CYA ART - back slightly at the start.
MIMI E COCO - when spoken to regarding the performance co-trainer S Telfer advised he was disappointed with the effort of the mare and would have the horse examined by his veterinarian in the coming days. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare with Mr Telfer.
FOLKLORE - back slightly at the start.
THE HONEY QUEEN - back slightly at the start.
Starter F Phelan was spoken to regarding the speed of the Mobile.
Co-trainer S Telfer reported that he had blood tests taken from MIMI E COCO following its disappointing performance last start which revealed some irregularities. Mr Telfer added that the mare has since been treated and will continue with its current preparation.
Race 3   LONE STAR ALEXANDRA PARK TROT
COMMANCHERO - broke leaving the final bend.
BRIENNE - broke at the start losing ground. Hampered by a breaking runner final bend.
SANINARMBRO - broke at the start losing ground. Broke again rounding the first bend. Hampered by a breaking runner final bend.
PRETTY PETITE - broke at the start losing ground . Broke again near the 400 metres.
CYCLONE KADABRAMELIA - broke at the start losing ground.
LOVE ON LINE - hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages.
CRUISE CONTROL - hung inwards at various stages during the running. Driver B Hackett reported he dropped his whip near the 150 metres. Stewards questioned Mr Hackett regarding his apparent lack of vigour in the run home. After hearing from Mr Hackett, Stewards adjourned the matter for further consideration. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.
PRESIDENTS TOPSHOT - broke near the 400 metres.
Race 4   WEDNESDAY QUIZ NIGHTS AT THE ALEX BAR MOB PACE
ARDEN VELOCITY - raced wide early stages.
LOUIE THE PUNTER - raced wide early stages. Raced wide without cover from the 800 metres.
OHOKA ACHILLES - out of position at the start. Driver O Gillies was issued with a warning. Paced roughly near the 1300 metres. Held up throughout the run home.
MEETMEINSORRENTO - held up early stages of the run home.
Race 5   THE ALEX 'NOW OPEN' HANDICAP TROT
WHO'S QUEEN - broke at the start losing ground. Trotted roughly and broke for a short distance near the 1250 metres. Weakened final bend.
GAZZA GALLEON - broke at the start losing ground. Broke again racing into the first bend. Trotted roughly final bend.
UNCLE LOUIS - began awkwardly. Paced in the early stages and had to be broken up by its driver losing all chance. Stood down to trial satisfactorily on one occasion from a standing start.
CHICAGO H - held up leaving the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
RECYCLE - fractious prior to the start. Broke passing the 150 metres. A final warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
Race 6   DUNSTAN HORSE FEEDS SIRES STAKES FILLIES HEAT 4 (MOB PACE)
THE IRON LADY - lay inwards late in the run home contacting track markers.
OBSESSION - weakened leaving the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When spoken to regarding the performance co-trainer S Telfer advised he was disappointed with the effort of the filly and would have the horse examined by his veterinarian in the coming days. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the filly with Mr Telfer.
ARTISAN - raced wide early stages.
MIKI MONTANA - raced wide early stages. Broke near the 150 metres and again over the concluding stages.
FOREVER A DANCER - held up early stages of the run home.
FIRST ROSE - raced wide without cover from the 800 metres.
LADY OF THE LIGHT - raced wide early stages. Held up early stages of the run home.
Co-trainer S Telfer reported that he had blood tests taken from OBSESSION following its disappointing performance last start which revealed some irregularities. Mr Telfer added that the filly has since been treated and would return to the trials prior to resuming.
Race 7   IRT - YOUR HORSE. OUR PASSION. MOBILE PACE
DARLING ME - held up for clear racing room throughout the run home. Crowded near the 50 metres and had to be steadied.
FRANCO NIVEN - broke racing into the first bend and shifted outwards making contact with the sulky of NEED YOU NOW losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
NEED YOU NOW - hung inwards in the run home and had to be corrected by its driver over the concluding stages.
COPY THAT - raced wide early stages.
Race 8   MAGNESS BENROW HANDICAP TROT
SPECIAL WAY - broke racing into the first bend losing considerable ground.
RAIN MIST AND MUSCLE - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
SON OF PATRICK - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Weakened over the concluding stages.
KAY CEE - when questioned regarding the performance driver Z Butcher advised that he was unable to improve his position from the 600 metres after the three wide line had failed to progress, resulting in him becoming poorly placed at the rear of the field on the final bend. Mr Butcher added considering this he was pleased with the performance of the gelding.
Race 9   BRECKON FARMS 2YO MOBILE PACE
MATT MAJOR - raced greenly over the concluding stages and shifted outwards despite the efforts of driver Z Butcher. Mr Butcher reported that the gelding had hung throughout causing him some difficulty. Driver Z Butcher admitted a charge for using his whip outside the sulky confines and with more than a wrist flicking motion late in the run home and was fined $200 by the Adjudicative Committee.
IDEAL FUNDING - briefly crowded near the 150 metres.
CHIMICHURRI - hung outwards in the run home and shifted up the track briefly crowding an outside runner.
Race 10   DRAG BINGO DEC 9 AT THE ALEX BAR MOBILE PACE
MR INCREDIBLE - driver P Clabby was warned for his lack of control when allowing his horse to shift outwards leaving the final bend when he activated the removable deafeners which hampered outside runners.
SUSIE REIGNMAKER - driver C Wigg advised that she did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
HIGHVIEW JUSTICE - hampered leaving the find bend.
PLAY BALL - hampered leaving the final bend. Driver J Brownlee was warned for using his whip in a continuous manner and with more than a wrist flicking motion rounding the final bend and in the run home.
VOODOO PRINCE - paced roughly as the start was effected. Hampered leaving the final bend. Hung inwards throughout the run home. Driver C Sharpe was issued with a warning for using his whip in a continuous manner in the home straight.
MIGHTY MONICA - trainer E Rowden advised Stewards that the mare will be racing in season. Broke briefly in the early stages of the score up. Over-raced in the middle stages when in the parked position. Hampered leaving the final bend.
