GREENBACK BOOGIE - the mare was reluctant to take the passing lane in the early stages of the run home.
IDEAL ZEN - out of position at the start with Driver S Dickson being issued a warning. Mr Dickson was also warned for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the run home. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted in the middle stages Mr Dickson explained that his stablemate I WON'T BACK DOWN was over-racing badly to his inside and had started to make abnormal breathing noises, so in the interests of safety he allowed Driver P Davis to shift that runner out off the marker line to sit parked which provided him with a favourable trail. Stewards accepted his explanation in this instance.

CARSE O FERN CULLY - broke briefly late in the score up. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Lay in entering the first turn contacting ARTFUL LIVING. A further warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Over-raced middle stages when caught three wide without cover. Commenced to weaken near the 500 metres. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted during the middle stages Driver B Taylor explained that he had some difficulty with the gelding racing fiercely throughout. Mr Taylor put this down to a recent gear change with the horse over-reacting with full blinds on. He further added that he had attempted to pull back to take cover in the running line near the 1300 metres when a brief opportunity arose however he was unable to do this due to the horse's manners. Stewards reminded Mr Taylor of his obligations in that he would be expected to be more decisive given similar circumstances in the future.

Weakened over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted Mr Fleming advised after PLAY BY EAR broke on the first bend it gave him the chance to set a strong tempo which had suited his runner previously when driven in this manner. He further added that the mare had been working well leading into today's event and that he was disappointed with the effort.
