Race 1   SPEEDING SPUR @ WOODLANDS TENDER BY 29 OCT HCP TROT
THE GOVERNATOR - slow to begin. Broke passing the 2400 metres losing considerable ground. Broke again passing the 800 metres losing its chance. Driver S Phelan reported that the gelding had cast both front shoes during the running.
RECYCLE - when questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance trainer S Green advised that the gelding had recently resumed from a lengthy spell and had benefitted from its recent starts. Mr Green added the horse had been able to capitalise on a favorable run throughout when leading.
CHICAGO H - briefly held up rounding the final bend.
HILL OF PEACE - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
LEXI T - broke at the start settling at the rear. Broke again approaching the first turn losing considerable ground.
THE BIG BIRD - weakened in the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare was showing signs of a respiratory infection. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to racing next.
STILL EYRE - weakened leaving the final bend.
GAZ MAN - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Broke again near the 1900 metres losing all chance.
DORIS RAE - weakened passing the 400 metres.
Race 2   HARNESS MILLIONS SAT 12 FEB AT ALEXANDRA PARK MOB PACE
GETN WIGGY WITHIT - over-raced in the middle stages.
SOME CHEVRON - co-trainer R Dunn was issued with a $50 Minor Infringement Notice for being late in notifying the gelding would race with fixed deafeners and a pacifier.
ASK AWAY - raced wide early stages.
AZTEC SHARD - an investigation was held into a perceived Breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1450 metres when OLD TOWN ROAD raced wider on the track after AZTEC SHARD shifted out from the running line. It was established that driver A Poutama (AZTEC SHARD) commenced his outwards movement prior to OLD TOWN ROAD covering his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.
CHIMICHURRI - hung outwards in the run home and shifted up the track when clear of other runners. Driver Z Butcher reported that the colt had locked on one rein causing him difficulty.
SIKA REACTION - paced roughly late in the score up. Broke approaching the 1900 metres but soon settled. Weakened in the run home.
Race 3   HYDROFLOW MOBILE PACE
MR PERFECT - lay in and contacted several marker pegs passing the 300 metres.
GOVERNOR'S BAY - weakened final bend after racing in the parked position.
ROCKNROLL ROULETTE - driver Z Butcher was shown a replay and spoken to advisedly for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the home straight.
THE MISSING SOCK - unable to maintain its position behind the mobile over the latter stages of the score up despite the efforts of driver S Reid. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Hung outwards near the 1800 metres, losing contact with the body of field until the 1400 metres.
GIRLS ARE BEST - had to be steadied when denied clear racing room over the concluding stages.
Race 4   SWEET LOU @ WOODLANDS TENDER BY 29 OCT F & M $20K MOB PACE
MISS HATHAWAY - held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
HARDER THAN DIAMONDS - raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. Weakened on the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BE MY ROSE - raced wide early stages.
MIMI E COCO - raced wide early stages.
DOWN THE HATCH - raced wide early and middle stages.
MIGHTY MONICA - commenced to give ground passing the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
EIGHTEEN CARAT - lay in and paced roughly for several strides near the 800 metres.
Race 5   WOODLANDS STUD SIRES STAKES HEAT 4 (MOBILE PACE)
PAULY D - raced greenly in the score up despite the efforts of driver T Herlihy.
RIVERBOY BEN - over-raced middle stages after a slight easing of the pace.
MONTANA D J - driver Z Butcher was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the home straight. When issuing this warning, Stewards took into account that he had not been interviewed in relation to an earlier incident in Race 3 regarding the manner in which he used his whip. Mr Butcher was also questioned in relation to the manner in which he drove rounding the final bend. He explained that MONTANA D J had commenced to shift away from the off side boring pole and he had taken corrective action on entering the home straight to prevent the colt shifting further up the track. After considering Mr Butcher's explanation, Stewards took the matter no further other than to remind him of his obligations given similar circumstances in the future.
MAJOR PERRY - paced roughly racing into the first bend.
MR CHIP - raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field.
PASQUALE - had to be steadied off the back of PAULY D in the score up. Had to be steadied again passing the 1300 metres and dislodged its over-check. Lay in and contacted several marker pegs rounding the final bend.
Race 6   MAJESTIC HORSE FLOATS HANDICAP TROT
CALL ME TROUBLE - lay in rounding the bends.
MASSIVE METRO - weakened final bend.
TEMPORALE - raced four wide from the 550 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Cameron said that he was not disappointed with the gelding's effort considering the strong tempo of the race with the gelding having to chase the field throughout from its 55 metre handicap.
Race 7   KERRY HOGGARD MEMORIAL - THE HOLMES DG HANDICAP PACE
CRUZEE MACH - broke at the start losing ground before settling. Weakened final bend.
ROUGH AND READY - over-raced middle stages.
CHRISTIANSHAVTIME - briefly hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
BELLE OF MONTANA - weakened final bend.
DANCE TIME - fractious prior to the start and reared. Slow to begin.
Race 8   METALCRAFT ROOFING MOBILE PACE
BAKARI (B Mangos) and BETTERZIPPIT (M McKendry) were very slow to move out of the pre-race formation which resulted in the Starter F Phelan having to delay the score up. Both drivers advised Stewards that they had not heard the Starter's whistle to commence the score up due to the prevailing windy conditions. Stewards accepted both drivers explanations however they were reminded of their obligations.
BET WEST - was declared a late scratching at 5.11pm by veterinary advice.
BAKARI - lay in rounding the bends. Commenced to weaken passing the 500 metres.
ACE STRIKE - driver J Dickie was warned for allowing his gelding to shift in and contact marker pegs early in the run home. Stewards were satisfied that the gelding had not gained an advantage in this incident.
ARDEN VELOCITY - driver S Phelan was shown a replay and warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion on several occasions in the run home.
MEETMEINSORRENTO - paced roughly and had to be restrained near the 1700 metres. Shortly after was taken wider on the track and retired from the event after both hopple connecting straps broke. Co-trainers G Rogerson & D Ferguson (A Drake acting as agent) were issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice on the grounds that this gear was presented in used condition.
OHOKA ACHILLES - raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field. Held up by a weakening runner leaving the final bend. Had to be restrained passing the 100 metres when disappointed for a run.
COMIC BOOK HERO - weakened leaving the final bend.
Race 9   BRECKON FARMS F & M MOBILE PACE
AIMING FOR GLORY - co-trainer S Telfer was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the filly with blinds that were not notified.
FOUR KISSES - over-raced in the middle stages.
THE GOVERNESS - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier record.
Race 10   AUCKLAND CO-OP TAXIS 300-3000 TROT
A false start was declared at the first attempt when the barrier strand failed to clear the front line runners.
DEBBIE LEE GALLEON - shifted out shortly after the start and had to be corrected. Driver O Gillies was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
KEYSTONE COMET - broke near the 350 metres and dislodged a marker peg losing its chance.
ALDEBARAN KEEPA - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of co-trainer M Wallis.
CYCLONE LUCKY LINDA - broke briefly racing into the first bend. Shifted up the track passing the 400 metres when driver Z Butcher activated the removable deafeners. Continued to shift outwards in the run home.
RUMOUR HAS IT - broke shortly after the start and lost all chance.
LUVSA COLD ONE - broke shortly after the start losing ground before settling.
AEONIAN - broke racing into the first bend and again passing the 1800 metres losing all chance and was retired from the event.
CYBER ATTACK - driver T Cameron was issued with a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
HELSINGOR - broke shortly after the start losing ground before settling. Broke again near the 1800 metres losing all chance.
Stewards extended leniency in relation to the performance of some runners given the false start.
