Race 7 - FAHEY FENCE HIRE MOBILE PACE
Driver R Cameron (SAGINAW) defended a charge under Rule 868(2) alleging that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to win or obtain the best possible placing by electing not to shift the gelding wider on the track prior to the 200 metres to obtain clear running which resulted in his horse being held up throughout the home straight. After viewing the replays and hearing the evidence, the Adjudicative Committee upheld the charge and suspended Mr Cameron's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 15 October up to and including 15 January 2022 (3 months).

Raced very keenly on the final bend when held up. Stewards reviewed the start with regard to the starting position of MIGHTY REACTOR and after considering the gelding's finishing position and the run it was likely to receive in the race, were not satisfied the horse's chances had been materially affected. Driver B Hope was also spoken to and advised that even though he was further back than anticipated at the start this had not materially prejudiced the gelding's chances. Starter R Donnelly explained that he felt the interference had occurred far enough out from the start which enabled both horses to recover enough of the lost ground so as not to call a false start.

KD HAWK - trotted roughly on occasions in the run home.
TEDESCO - trotted roughly prior to the start and in consequence was out of position. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Again trotted roughly passing the 400 metres. ENJOY ME - lay inwards under pressure on the final bend. Stewards questioned driver T Williams regarding the manner he drove after passing the 1000 metres having unsuccessfully challenged RIVEERED for the lead and then applying a sustained pressure to that runner until the 400 metres. Mr Williams explained that he had encouraged his filly with the whip near the 1300 metres but soon realised M Purdon would not surrender the lead. He added that he immediately restrained but after asking his filly to quicken she did not come back to him as he would have liked and she had over-raced thereafter. Mr Williams said that he believed that it would have been detrimental to his filly's breathing to be more aggressive in restraint. After considering his explanation Stewards took the matter no further.
