Race 1   ONE SMART COFFEE TROT
SPEEDING SPIRIT - trotted roughly in the early stages. Broke near the 1900 metres losing all chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed possible lameness in the near hind leg with the gelding also light in condition. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
KOSCIUSZKO - broke briefly at the start losing considerable ground.
BULLER WHITEBAIT - broke shortly after the start. Broke again passing the 1900 metres hampering trailing runners and losing considerable ground. Briefly hampered by a breaking runner passing the 1100 metres. Broke again passing the 700 metres losing all chance.
TOOBUSY BEING FAMOUS - broke briefly passing the 1100 metres hampering trailing runners. Held up for clear racing room in the middle stages of the run home.
BARRYTOWN - broke at the start. Briefly hampered by a breaking runner passing the 1100 metres. Held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
GALLEONS AMBASSADOR - briefly hampered by a breaking runner passing the 1100 metres. Held up for clear racing room until late in the run home.
SHEZA GIFT - broke briefly shortly after the start and as the filly settled the boring pole came adrift. This gear was inspected and the trainer was found not to be at fault. Broke again shortly afterwards losing considerable ground. Trotted roughly in the run home. Driver B Williamson reported he had not activated the removable deafeners in consequence.
OUR PINOCCHIO - slow to begin. Briefly hampered by a breaking runner passing the 1900 metres. Again briefly hampered by a breaking runner passing the 1100 metres. Broke on the final bend.
FLYIN SID - slow to begin. Raced wide early stages.
ACTION PACKED - raced wide early stages. Trotted roughly passing the 2200 metres losing ground.
Race 2   THANK YOU TAYLER STRONG MOBILE PACE
VICTOR BRAVO - out of position at the start. Junior driver K Bublitz (assisted by B Williamson) was issued a warning. Paced roughly racing into the first bend. Mr Bublitz was also warned for using his whip free of the rein in the run home.
ADHIKA - when spoken to regarding the improved performance, the connections advised the gelding had been racing consistently prior to performing poorly on the grass at its last start and they were not surprised with today's performance.
SPARK IT UP - paced roughly rounding the first bend and again on the final bend. Driver S Boyd admitted using his whip free of the rein and with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home and the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
ROLLYARRRZ - raced wide without cover from the 700 metres.
BONO BROWN - broke on the final bend losing all chance.
Race 3   T K HIRE PACE
SECOND WAVE - broke at the start losing ground.
IRON WOMAN - slow to begin. Held up final bend.
GRINNING AGAIN - weakened final bend.
YOU CAN FLY ARDEN - broke at the start losing ground. Weakened from the 600 metres.
HILDA MAUD - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
THE TERRORIST - broke briefly at the start.
KYRAN - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
CARANA - driver J Hay was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
FRANK BURNS - held up leaving the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
PURE COURAGE - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 4   OAMARU HRC/SOUTHERN HARNESS RACING SERIES MOBILE TROT
SUMMARS - weakened final bend.
YEA YOU - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Stewards refrained from taking action against the gelding due to the prevailing strong winds which caused the mobile arm to move back slightly towards the runners in the score up.
BREAK FREE - broke near the 200 metres.
LINE A LOVE - held up final bend.
EILISH HALL - raced wide early stages.
SHIFFTY - driver G Smith was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for being late to present his runner on the track. Raced wide early stages.
TYENE - the connections advised the mare has been served since last racing. Broke late in the score up losing considerable ground. Stewards refrained from taking action against the mare due to the prevailing strong winds which caused the mobile arm to move back slightly towards the runners in the score up. Hung inwards throughout the run home. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
TEDESCO - trotted roughly rounding the final bend.
HE'S A CASSANOVA - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
Race 5   HENRY HUBERT ROAD TO THE NZ CUP MOBILE PACE
DANCING ON MY OWN - lay in final bend losing ground.
ZUSAK - raced wide without cover from the 800 metres. Hampered final bend by a breaking runner.
MAJOR PURCHASE - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a length of time and was cleared to start. Broke on the final bend. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
MIKIS SHINEING STAR - hampered final bend by a breaking runner.
Race 6   MONICA TORETTO RACEDAY PHOTOGRAPHER MOBILE PACE
LATERINTHEDAY - a false start was declared when LATERINTHEDAY broke in the score up hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Driver G O'Reilly elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart. Broke again in the score up of the restart losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
REINIMIN PATRON - weakened over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver M Williamson was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
SISTER'S DELIGHT - over-raced early stages when being restrained to take cover.
IT'S ME - unable to obtain clear racing room until late in the run home.
POCKET CALL - weakened final bend.
MAGIC SIGN - briefly hampered in the score up of the restart and was back slightly at the start.
THE ARTFUL DODGER - briefly hampered in the score up of the restart and was back slightly at the start. Raced wide early stages.
Race 7   MATTHEW WILLIAMSON RACING STABLES PACE
ART COLLECTOR - trainer W Stapleton was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the gelding without the notified blinds.
WOLFENSTEIN - driver M Williamson reported he sustained a punctured sulky tyre over the concluding stages.
CLASSEY ROBIN - over-raced middle stages. Held up for clear racing room over the final 100 metres making contact with the sulky wheel of WOLFENSTEIN when in restricted room.
GET OUTTA TOWN - raced wide early stages.
SCARED STIFF - held up final bend and in the early and middle stages of the run home with driver T Chmiel advising that he did not activate the sliding blinds due to only securing clear racing room over the concluding stages.
TAKEMYBREATHAWAY - broke briefly at the start. Held up over the concluding stages.
NIKOL FRANCO - held up final bend.
STARKERS - raced three wide from the 1000 metres and four wide from the 700 metres.
HUCKABEE - backed away as the start was effected losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
Race 8   OTAGO EQUINE HOSPITAL HANDICAP TROT
SHANDON BELLS - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Weakened over the concluding stages.
GREENBANK BETTY - lay inwards and trotted roughly rounding the final bend. Continued to trot roughly in the run home. Driver T Williams reported the mare would derive benefit from its first run back from a short freshen up.
RED HARBOUR - broke racing into the first bend after making contact with the sulky wheel of POSTGRAD SUCCESS. When spoken to regarding this driver C Thornley advised that he had attempted to restrain the gelding to obtain cover however runners had improved to his inside and his horse had commenced to over-race resulting in the gelding becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky of POSTGRAD SUCCESS after a slight easing of the pace.
Race 9   PHILLIPS HORSE TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE
BETTERTHANHOPE - over-raced middle stages. Weakened over the concluding stages. When spoken to regarding the performance trainer/driver J Hay advised the mare had over-raced throughout with the effort taking its toll. He added that he believed the horse would derive benefit from its first start back after a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
SHEELASINLEAGUE - raced wide early stages. Checked and broke near the 500 metres when weakening.
REFINE - hung inwards near the 500 metres despite the efforts of driver A Cameron checking SHEELASINLEAGUE which broke. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Continued to lay inwards throughout the run home.
SING TO ME - broke in the score up and recovered to be in position at the start.
SPORTY CELINE - the anti choke device was removed prior to the start after breaking in the preliminary. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
Race 10   DAVID OVENS BUILDING HANDICAP PACE
JIMMY ARMA - lay in on the bend near the 1000 metres dislodging a track marker.
STORM - shifted outwards at the start making contact with CAESAR'S QUEST and broke in consequence.
CAESAR'S QUEST - hampered by STORM which shifted out at the start. Raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres.
KUSANOVA - weakened final bend.
DODGETHEBULLET - broke at the start. Weakened final bend.
HOMEBUSH LAD - briefly held up final bend by a weakening runner.
GEORGIE ZUKOV - began awkwardly and shifted wider on the track.
Race 11   PLACEMAKERS MOBILE PACE
BETSTARS BLUE JEAN - weakened from the 500 metres.
SERIOUS MOONLITE - lay inwards final bend and in the early stages of the run home. When spoken to regarding the performance driver B Orange advised he was pushed wide when improving on the final bend which had taken its toll on the gelding being able to finish the race off.
EL DORADO - raced wide early stages. Over raced middle stages.
TAXMAN - raced wide early stages.
TIEBREAKER - Co-trainers G & J Dunn were issued a warning for being late to notify the gelding would be racing without a pacifier. Raced wide early and middle stages.
CORRAVALLY STAR - raced wide early stages. Junior driver S Thornley advised he elected not to activate the hopple shorteners due to the colt pacing roughly.
DUFFY HOLLOW - over-raced middle stages. Briefly held up final bend.
TERROR MARIA - raced wide early stages.
ROCKNROLL MAMA - held up final bend and early stages of the run home.
