Race Comments

Race 1   IRT. YOUR HORSE. OUR PASSION. FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
SNOW ROBYN - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S McNally. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Mr McNally admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule when shifting outwards in the early stages forcing SPARK IT UP to race wider on the track. After penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended S McNally's drivers licence from the conclusion of racing on 10 October up to and including 17 October 2021 (2 days). Over-raced middle stages.
MONELLIE - paced roughly through the early stages then broke after 150 metres hampering a trailing runner and lost its chance. Stood down pending one satisfactory trial.
SWEET SPIRIT - held up throughout the run home. Driver R Close reported he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
CREATIVE - paced roughly for a short distance near the 1200 metres after a slight easing of the pace.
MISS MARKLE - had to be steadied near the 1200 metres after a slight easing of the pace. Had difficulty finding clear racing room in the run home.
THE DANISH GIRL - lethargic in the early stages losing contact with the field and taking no competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.

GLASSY WEBB - lay outwards under pressure in the run home. When spoken to regarding the improved performance trainer T Barron reported the gelding had worked hard in its first run back from a spell last week when racing wide and outside the leader on a fast overall time. Mr Barron added the gelding had appreciated a return to its preferred racing style of leading.

ROYAL DIEDRE - weakened final bend.
HARBOUR QUEEN - hung inwards final bend when under pressure.
WANNA PLAY WITH ME - Stewards questioned driver T Williams regarding his lack of vigour in the early and middle stages of the run home and after doing so issued a charge under Rule 868(2) alleging he had failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure the filly was given full opportunity to win the race. Mr Williams explained that his horse had raced keenly through the back straight on the final occasion and in his opinion peaked on its run soon after reaching the front in the early stages of the run home. Mr Williams said the horse had failed to respond to his encouragement when tried with the reins and then with the whip inside 60 metres and had conceded ground on the winner in this period. He said tonight's run had been significantly harder than her first up effort and against a better calibre of horse. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have a very high heart rate which remained at an elevated level for a considerable period. Trainer R Todd advised that he would be having blood tests taken in the morning which Stewards will follow up with. In light of this result Stewards elected not to proceed with a charge against Mr Williams but spoke with him regarding the expectation upon him to adequately pressure his runner when fighting out a finish.
DESBOIS - raced wide from the 900 metres.
Trainer R Todd advised Stewards on 14 October that blood tests taken from WANNA PLAY WITH ME revealed no abnormalities with the filly continuing with her current preparation.

Race 9   HYDROFLOW MOBILE PACE
STREET HAWK - a false start was declared when STREET HAWK broke in the score up checking I'M YOUR HUCKLEBERRY. Driver M Purdon elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the re-start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide until being restrained to the rear of the field near the 1300 metres. Paced roughly final bend and had to be steadied.
