Driver C Negus (assisted by B Negus) was questioned regarding the manner in which she drove when challenging for the lead for a considerable distance during the middle stages before weakening. After considering her explanation, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 868(2) alleging that Mrs Negus had failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures between the 1900 metres and the 1000 metres to ensure her runner was given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible finishing position by persisting with the challenge for the lead which proved to be to the detriment of her gelding's chances. The Adjudicative Committee adjourned the matter sine die. | |

After hearing evidence and submissions from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and after receiving penalty submissions, Mrs Negus' licence to drive was suspended from 6 December 2021 up to and including 6 April 2022 (4 months) and in addition was fined $400. |
