Race Comments

Race 1   KUBALA SEEDS FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
RAKASTELLA - briefly hampered passing the 1300 metres.
PLAY IT NOW - paced roughly passing the 1300 metres and lost ground.
SCHIAVONE - crowded and had to be steadied racing into the first bend.
TASHS BAD GIRL - hampered racing into the first bend. Weakened on the final bend.
BACK PAGE NEWS - raced wide in the early stages. Improved three-wide through the middle stages to race in the parked position. Lay inwards briefly on the final bend. Driver B Williamson was shown the films and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground near the 1300 metres when crowding an inside runner for a short distance. In taking this course of action, Stewards were mindful that the parked PLAY IT NOW had eased the speed of the race in the one-wide line resulting in BACK PAGE NEWS being slightly inconvenienced when attempting to shift inwards. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Williamson advised that the filly hard worked hard in the middle stages to improve its position with the effort taking its toll.
ATARAH - weakened on the final bend.
Race 2   POTTER SPRAYING LTD TROT
JACCKA WATCH - pre-race warmed. Slow to begin. Broke passing the 150 metres when leading and was shifted to the outside of the track to avoid trailing runners.
CHICK MAGNET - reared when parading in the pre-race formation prior to the start and made heavy contact with driver S O'Reilly (KIWI HEIR) who was dislodged from her sulky. Sent to the Unruly position by the Starter where the gelding will now be drawn for its upcoming standing start engagements. Weakened from the 700 metres.
SPEEDING SPIRIT - broke rounding the final bend losing its chance.
RANDOM SPUR - weakened on the final bend.
THE POWER BROKER - trotted roughly in the early stages.
MYSHOUT - briefly hampered at the start and had to shift ground outwards.
KIWI HEIR - escaped driverless from the start area after driver S O'Reilly was dislodged from her sulky when being heavily contacted by CHICK MAGNET. KIWI HEIR continued driverless for a considerable distance before being recaptured with the mare being declared a late scratching at 4.28pm by Order of Stewards. A subsequent veterinary examination cleared the mare of any injury. Miss O'Reilly was examined by St John Paramedics and cleared to fulfil her remaining driving engagements.
Race 3   CUSTOM BUILD ENGINEERING MOBILE PACE
SHADY RULER - weakened on the final bend. When asked to comment on the performance driver B Orange could offer no tangible excuse.
FIREFOREFIDDLE - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover and then continued to over-race on various occasions thereafter.
MAN I'M GOOD - weakened from the 700 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
SPORTSCAM - briefly hampered by a weakening runner leaving the final bend.
Trainer A Kyle advised Stewards on 9 October that following its disappointing performance blood tests conducted on MAN I'M GOOD revealed no abnormalities and the gelding would continue on with the current campaign.
Race 4   THREE RIVERS HOTEL/PIONEER TAVERN MOBILE PACE
CHANGEAROUND - lay outwards through the middle stages.
ALEXIS ROCKET - held up through the early and middle stages of the run home.
ART COURAGE - briefly held up by a weakening runner near the 700 metres.
MUCHO MACHO MAN - weakened in the early stages of the run home. When asked to comment on the performance driver S Tomlinson advised the gelding had been pressured for the lead through the middle stages and this had taken its toll.
AIRWAVES - briefly held up in the run home by a weakening runner.
TETRICK - weakened from the 700 metres and was eased out of the race by driver B Williamson. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
Race 5   PHILLIPS HORSE TRANSPORT/REGIONAL FORD GORE MOBILE TROT
SVELT - weakened final bend.
IT'S SUMMERTIME - broke in the score-up checking SAGE TROUBLE resulting in a false start being declared. Driver J Douglas elected to start from the Unruly position for the restart. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Broke passing the 700 metres losing all chance.
SACRED MOUNTAIN - the gaiting strap broke passing the 200 metres and hung loose. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
UNIQUE MARSHALL - broke passing the 700 metres and continued in a break for a considerable distance losing all chance.
MISS CRAZED - lay inwards in the run home and briefly shifted into the passing lane before being corrected by driver B Williamson.
WINNING BONES - weakened rounding the final bend. When asked to comment on the performance driver M Williamson could offer no explanation and was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding in the coming days.
KING CASSIDY - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 750 metres. Trotted roughly on various occasions during the running.
SAGE TROUBLE - weakened from the 900 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of muscle tie-up and was treated accordingly.
Race 6   HOKONUI RURAL TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE

Race 7   SKY MAJOR AT WAI EYRE FARM MOBILE PACE

IVANA LEGACY - weakened rounding the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be in season. The connections advised the mare would be retired from racing.
