Race 1   WHAT THE HILL "THE FUTURE OF SQUARE GAITING" TROT
ONE MORE MOMENT - broke near the 300 metres hampering trailing runners.
TEASE MY TARTAN - over-raced passing the 1400 metres when being restrained to obtain cover. Weakened on the final bend.
THE POWER BROKER - broke at the start. Raced wide without cover from the 1700 metres. Weakened from the 700 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted in the middle stages Driver B Williamson explained that he felt the speed of the race was not overly fast racing into the front straight on the first occasion so he elected to shift to a three wide position as he considered he would be able to obtain the position outside of the leader. However, once doing so the speed of the race increased noticeably when DOCTOR LAVROS challenged TEASE MY TARTAN for the lead approaching the 1500 metres leaving him poorly positioned wide on the track. Mr Williamson added that a combination of his drive not having the necessary speed and the gelding trotting roughly resulted in him not being able to advance his position. After hearing from Mr Williamson, Stewards accepted his explanation.
CHARLIE P - trotted roughly racing into the first bend and lost ground. Hampered by a breaking runner passing the 300 metres and had to be steadied.
KIWI HEIR - hampered by a breaking runner passing the 300 metres and forced wider on the track.
MILLIE'S GIFT - broke at the start losing its chance.
Race 2   LATHER UP "THE FASTEST 4YO IN HISTORY" MOBILE PACE
ALEXIS ROCKET - held up rounding the final bend.
I'M WATCHING YOU - briefly held up in the early stages of the run home.
TAD LINCOLN - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight with Driver N Williamson reporting that due to this he did not activate the sliding blinds.
AB'S TENANTS - out of position at the start despite the efforts of Driver S Ottley. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
Race 3   WOODLANDS STUD SUPPORTS SOUTHLAND F&M MOBILE PACE
TISBURY ROCKS - paced roughly in the early stages of the run home and had to be steadied.
NYLA - attempted to improve four wide from the 500 metres. When asked to comment on the performance Driver B Orange could offer no tangible explanation.
COOL IDEA - raced wide in the early stages.
ATARAH - raced wide in the early stages.
TASHS BAD GIRL - hung outwards in the score-up and through the early stages. Held up on the final bend and early in the run home.
SCHIAVONE - lay inwards throughout the run home.
Race 4   SWEET LOU "THE BEST IS YET TO COME" MOBILE PACE
BILLY BUCKET - slightly out of position at the restart. Weakened on the final bend.
BEEZ NEEZ - briefly hampered shortly after the start when SAVIOUR TELF paced roughly. Driver S Ottley reported she did not activate the sliding blinds due to having the field covered.
LECONTE - hung inwards and broke in the score-up with the gelding's crupper breaking, resulting in a false start being declared. Driver J Cox elected to start from the Unruly position for the restart where this gelding will now be drawn for its upcoming mobile engagements. When asked to comment on the performance Trainer/Driver J Cox advised he was not disappointed with the effort given the gelding had to come from the back of the field on a fast last half.
SAVIOUR TELF - paced roughly shortly after the start and through the early stages having to be steadied, losing ground. Again paced roughly over the concluding stages.
SLY TRICKS - raced wide in the early stages.
CHEZZ DALE - briefly hampered shortly after the start when SAVIOUR TELF paced roughly. When asked to comment on the performance Driver K Larsen advised the gelding, which was having its first run back from a spell, had peaked on its effort early in the home straight however in his opinion would derive considerable benefit from the run.
BONNIE PRINCE LOUIS - weakened on the final bend.
Trainer J Cox advised Stewards on 24 September that LECONTE as well as MAYBE (Race 7) and SPORTSCAM (Race 8) underwent blood tests today which revealed that all three horses were suffering from high stress levels and dehydration and would now be treated accordingly.
Race 5   SPEEDING SPUR 9-TIME GROUP 1 WINNING MILLIONAIRE TROT
SAGE TROUBLE - broke after 100 metres losing considerable ground. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
MAUDARCHY - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start and broke in consequence. Broke rounding the first bend losing all chance and was eventually retired from the event.
JACCKA JEORGE - broke at the start losing its chance.
MADRIK - broke at the start. Hampered racing into the first bend. Again broke passing the 1600 metres losing its chance. Placed on the Unruly for future standing start engagements at the request of Trainer K Barclay.
PAT THE MONKEY - trotted roughly through the middle stages. Weakened from the 600 metres.
DENN NEE'S SISTER - weakened from the 800 metres.
MISS BAMBOOCHA - broke racing into the first bend losing its chance. Driver R McIlwrick was spoken to advisedly to ensure he takes greater care when shifting ground on a breaking runner rounding the first bend after hampering a trailing runner when attempting to move wider on the track.
LAURIES LEGACY - pre-race warmed.
Race 6   AMERICAN IDEAL "THE GUN SIRE" FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
NORTHVIEW PEG - broke briefly in the early stages of the score-up however recovered to be in its allocated position at the start. Lay outwards throughout.
Race 7   BETTOR'S DELIGHT -"THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME" MOBILE PACE
MAYBE - when asked to comment on the performance Trainer/Driver J Cox advised he was disappointed with the effort. Mr Cox added he would have blood tests conducted on the gelding in the coming days and undertook to advise Stewards of the findings.
BLACK OPS - over-raced in the middle stages.
BEAUDIENE HUSTLER - when asked to comment on the performance Junior driver E Barron was of the opinion the gelding may have resented the Murphy Blinds and she would be recommending gear changes.
JODY DIREEN - over-raced in the early stages when wide on the track then continued to over-race through the middle stages. Weakened leaving the final bend.
WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE - lay outwards in the run home having to be straightened.
SIR BRIGADOON - cleared from the Unruly for future mobile barrier engagements.
Race 8   DOWNBYTHESEASIDE "MAKING A SPLASH" MOBILE PACE
There was a delay of approximately 17 minutes to the start of this event when SENTRY reared and fell to the track around at the start area when having a replacement sulky fitted. The gelding was immediately attended to by the on course Veterinarian and following an examination was humanely euthanised and transported from the track by the Horse Ambulance.
FIREFOREFIDDLE - over-raced middle stages.
CHANGEAROUND - held up on the final bend.
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - lost ground on the final bend when under pressure hampering a trailing runner.
AIRWAVES - refused to leave the pre-race formation and failed to score-up taking no part in the race. Following the race the All Clear was delayed while the Stewards reviewed the footage of the start after which this gelding was declared a non-runner due to displaying unsatisfactory barrier manners prior to the start pursuant to Rule 213(1)(e). A warning was placed on the barrier record of AIRWAVES. In not taking more severe action, Stewards were mindful of the significant delay to the start.
OVER THE ODDS - broke and attempted to buck for a considerable distance after leaving the pre-race formation in the early stages of the score up and lost its chance before being retired from the race. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. In not taking more severe action, Stewards were mindful of the significant delay to the start.
