Race 6 - FEAR THE DRAGON SOUTHERN SPRINT SERIES MOBILE PACE
Junior driver S O'Reilly (assisted by B Orange) defended a charge of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that she drove carelessly on the final bend by shifting ground outwards in an abrupt manner checking CAST A SHADOW (K Larsen) which broke and lost its chance. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee reserved their decision.

Race 1   WAITAKI AUTO ELECTRICS / WHISPERING PINES TROT
RACHEL DAYTOM - weakened final bend.
ADITI - over-raced at various stages throughout. When spoken to regarding the tactics he adopted when electing to come out of the trail to take the lead near the 1900 metres after being restrained initially, trainer/driver G Smith advised that it had been his intention to remain in the trail however the filly had failed to settle and so elected to improve forward to lead in an attempt to relax the filly which did not eventuate. He further added he would be making gear alterations for future engagements.
HANOVER DA MOON - trotted roughly and broke near the 1700 metres losing ground.
SEE IT THRU - trotted roughly and weakened final bend.
MAJESTIC WHISPER - cleared from the unruly for standing starts.
Race 2   PGG WRIGHTSON / RURAL TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE
HONOUR SCROLL - weakened final bend and lay in contacting track markers.
HONOUR BEFORE GLORY - lay outwards in the run home.
LITTLE GEE - held up final bend.
AUCHTERCAIRN - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
WEE RING THE CHANGES - raced wide early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field.
Race 3   SBT MARKETING (2009) LTD / BLUFF PROTEINS MOBILE PACE
PLAY IT NOW - when spoken to regarding the performance driver G O'Reilly advised the horse had received every opportunity and may not have backed up from its last start at Addington on Friday.
TANE J J - held up final bend.
MALDITO - over-raced near the 1500 metres and became awkwardly placed close to the sulky of TANE J J. Continued to over-race until improving wide near the 1300 metres. Weakened final bend.
LIFE OF ART - paced roughly in the early stages. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts at the request of trainer D Simpson.
WHITE DIAMOND GOLD - lay inwards in the home straight.
Race 4   MAKING IT HAPPEN: G K FYFE PAINTING TROT
FAST WHISPERING - broke shortly after the start and shifted outwards abruptly checking outside runners and losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
GALLEONS DEVOTION - began awkwardly. When spoken to regarding the performance trainer/driver J Morrison advised he was not disappointed with the performance given the rise in class of opposition today.
CODY BANNER - checked by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Trotted roughly rounding the final bend and throughout the run home and was unable to be driven out by driver M Williamson.
GREENBANK BETTY - driver T Williams advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
PRINCE RANIER - checked by a breaking runner in the early stages.
MONARO MAKO - broke briefly leaving the final bend. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
MICKEY JAY - weakened from the 600 metres.
Race 5   MARSHALL TRANSPORT / COMBINED SERVICES CLUB TWIZEL PACE
AIRIES GOLD - over-raced middle stages.
BLACK LACE - crowded and broke briefly at the start.
PURE COURAGE - broke at the start.
ADHIKA - contacted the barrier strand causing a delay to the start. Driver J Morrison was issued a warning.
VOYEUR - when spoken to regarding the performance driver R May advised the mare had over-raced in the early stages which was detrimental to its performance later in the race.
JUSTIN FUN - paced roughly throughout. Weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
ROSIES TERROR - when spoken to regarding the perceived improved performance of the mare trainer G Prendergast advised the mare had been freshened since last racing and had appreciated a return to standing starts where she had been able to begin well and race close to the pace.
EXPRESSIVE LOVE - hung inwards at various stages throughout and for a distance passing the 1400 metres causing driver S Tomlinson considerable difficulty.
Race 6   LOREEN ANNE MCKAY MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
The start was delayed due to the previous race running behind schedule.
LOOK SHARP - raced wide from the 800 metres.
SZYBKA LANE - weakened final bend.
MISS FIONA - raced wide without cover in the early stages. Weakened final bend.
JONIQUE - raced wide early stages.
TIEBREAKER - raced wide until improving to the lead near the 800 metres.
SERIOUS MOONLITE - shifted down the track when under pressure in the run home. When questioned regarding the improved performance the connections advised the horse had responded well to the addition of blinds and an anti-choke device after the gelding had hung outwards and over-raced at its last start.
WOLFENSTEIN - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer/driver M Williamson advised that the gelding had had a spell since last racing as well as a change to its feeding regime and he was not surprised after the horse had performed well at a recent trial.
Race 7   TEMUKA TRANSPORT (1967) LTD HANDICAP TROT
COUNT EYRE - trotted roughly final bend before breaking near the 200 metres.
ZEALOUS SPUR - trotted roughly passing the 1400 metres.
ONE OVER ALL - lay in on the bends and hung inwards striking track markers on the final bend. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the films and were satisfied the gelding had not gained any advantage.
MAJESTICMITE - weakened over the concluding stages. When spoken to regarding the performance driver S Ottley advised the gelding had not handled the rise in class of opposition today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
WINNING BONES - hung outwards and trotted roughly in the early stages.
Race 8   COLLIE HILLS STUD JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
JUSTACE - weakened from the 700 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Simpson could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
SAGINAW - over-raced middle stages.
BOSSMARO - weakened over the concluding stages. When spoken to regarding the performance driver K Newman advised notwithstanding the big run the horse had received he was still disappointed with the effort. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
ASIAN ELVIS - held up final bend and early stages of the run home.
OWES ME DOUGH - weakened from the 800 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver E Barron could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
Race 9   THE GOLDEN FLEECE HOTEL KUROW CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
DODGETHEBULLET - broke at the start.
BOARDING CALL - broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer/driver M Williamson.
HILARIOUS PRINCE - broke at the start. Had to be steadied after 150 metres when becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky wheel of IVANA LEGACY which was being restrained. Over-raced middle stages.
Race 10   DAVE HEFFERNAN PGG WRIGHTSON REAL ESTATE HANDICAP PACE
THE CONQUEROR - briefly held up by a weakening runner final bend.
PROTEUS - weakened over the concluding stages. When spoken to regarding the performance trainer/driver G Smith advised the gelding had raced lethargically and made respiratory noises throughout and in his opinion it may have flipped its palate and will be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
SOPHIA BROMAC - broke at the start. Hung inwards at various stages throughout. Held up for clear racing room on the final bend.
BROTHER JOHN - driver G O'Reilly was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the home straight.
KINGSDOWN ATOM - when spoken to regarding the improved performance trainer M Curry stated the gelding had been racing without luck which had made the form line look a lot worse than what it actually was. Mr Curry further stated he had made no substantial changes to the horse's training regime but that the gelding had received a suitable run today and been able to capitalise.
OLIVER NORTH - paced roughly middle stages. Weakened final bend. When spoken to regarding the performance driver M Williamson advised the gelding had been contacting its knees and he would be recommending gear changes.
