Race 3 - AIRPARK CANTERBURY HANDICAP TROT
Trainer J Howe advised Stewards on 12 August that PHOEBE ONYX has recovered well following its disappointing performance last week with Mr Howe adding that tomorrow night the gelding will race with blinds on and be driven in a more forward position should circumstances permit.

Race 1   GWD / TYRELAND MOBILE PACE
ATARAH - driver T Larsen was spoken to advisedly regarding the manner he drove near the 100 metres when momentarily shifting outwards crowding FLEETING MAJOR.
CAUTIOUS GALLEON - lay inwards in the early stages of the run home.
FLEETING MAJOR - over-raced through the early and middle stages. Paced roughly for a stride passing the 100 metres when crowded by an inside runner.
ELLZ ANGEL - raced wide in the early stages.
ROCK TO THE BOSS - raced wide in the early stages.
CHAR ELLIE - paced roughly and got its head up on a number of occasions during the running. Driver A Milne reported he was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
Race 2   BAYNES FAMILY TROT
DONALD TRUMP - raced without front shoes after losing one during the preliminary and the other being removed prior to the start. Slow through the early stages. Broke near the 1700 metres losing all chance.
DOCTOR LAVROS - broke near the 1600 metres losing ground. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
FATHER ON DOWN - broke after 100 metres and continued on in an uncontrolled gallop losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Placed on the Unruly for future standing start engagements at the request of Trainer A Paisley. Mr Paisley also advised he would be making gear alterations prior to the gelding racing next.
CLASSIC ROCK N ROLL - paced away before being broken up by Driver S Tomlinson losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
MY HOPE - lay inwards on various occasions during the running. Driver S O'Reilly reported she did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
PHOEBE'S DELIGHT - paced for a short distance at the start before being broken up by Driver S Ottley.
Race 3   LAZARUS AT ALABAR MOBILE PACE
I'M WATCHING YOU - shifted ground inwards early in the run home placing ART COURAGE in restricted room. The all clear was delayed until this incident had been reviewed however Stewards were satisfied that ART COURAGE had never been fully established in clear racing room due to TAD LINCOLN initially shifting outwards and then subsequently I'M WATCHING YOU moving inwards. Stewards questioned T Nally (assisted by C Barron) regarding this incident. After assessing the matter and giving particular consideration to Mr Nally's experience and good record Stewards took the matter no further other than placing a warning on his driving record for failing to maintain a straight course.
BETSTARS BLUE JEAN - held up late in the run home.
ART COURAGE - held up leaving the final bend and through the early stages of the run home having to shift ground outwards to obtain clear running.
Race 4   T K SHANKS EXCAVATING/EBONY 'N' IVORY TROT
WHANGAMATA - weakened from the 700 metres. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer C Laurenson could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
MR OLYMPUS - broke after 150 metres hampering a trailing runner and lost all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
DENN NEE'S SISTER - over-raced in the early stages. Lay outwards rounding the bends.
PEARLSPUR - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
CUDDLY TROUBLE - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 1100 metres.
SVELT - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend and broke in consequence losing all chance.
Race 5   MOSSDALE MOBILE PACE
CHANGEAROUND - raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field to obtain cover.
ROBYNS SHADOW - out of position at the start. When questioned regarding the performance Driver C Ferguson advised he had to briefly take hold of his gelding near the candy pole as the runner to his inside shifted out at this stage. Mr Ferguson added his runner had then got its head to one side and as a consequence was out of position at the dispatch.
SHADY RULER - Driver S O'Reilly advised she had difficulty steering the mare throughout due to the bit having pulled through its mouth. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the right hind leg and have a small cut to the right front pastern. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.
Race 6   FEAR THE DRAGON SOUTHERN SPRINT SERIES MOBILE PACE
FIREFOREFIDDLE - Driver M Williamson reported he was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the cord breaking. The gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
CAST A SHADOW - checked and broke rounding the final bend when an inside runner shifted ground outwards.
AMERICAN MAC - when questioned regarding the performance Driver M Hurrell advised he was somewhat disappointed with the effort given that the gelding had received an uncontested lead.
HANDS ON - Driver C Ferguson reported he was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
JODY DIREEN - over-raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted ground outwards rounding the final bend and made contact with CAST A SHADOW which broke in consequence. Stewards questioned Driver S O'Reilly assisted by B Orange regarding this incident. After hearing the explanation tendered, Stewards lodged an Information which the Adjudicative Committee adjourned sine die.
Race 7   MLT / THREE RIVERS HANDICAP TROT
MOMENT OF KAOS - over-raced through the middle stages. Weakened over the concluding stages.
MISS BAMBOOCHA - Stewards questioned Driver R McIlwrick regarding the manner he drove inside the final 400 metres as to whether he could have made more of an effort to better position his mare. Mr McIlwrick advised his runner traditionally competed best when driven with a sit, but due to the horse being fresh up today and having disappointed at a recent workout, when beaten by a maiden, he had been reluctant to improve at an earlier stage. He added that the horse had derived benefit from that run and expected her to again improve from today's race. Stewards noted his comments.
KING CASSIDY - trotted roughly throughout the run home. Cleared from the Unruly for future standing start engagements.
COUNT EYRE - trotted roughly throughout the run home and was unable to be fully driven out by Driver M Williamson.
Race 8   GAVELHOUSE.COM SALE LIVE TONIGHT MOBILE PACE
MUCHO MACHO MAN - over-raced when leading through the middle stages. Driver S Tomlinson reported she was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
MIDNIGHT IN MEMPHIS - raced keenly in the early stages. Held up throughout the run home. Driver S Ottley reported that due to this she did not release the removable deafeners nor activate the sliding blinds.
BETA THAN LOVE - over-raced throughout.
TRINITY STAR - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 11.40am. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.
MAJOR PUNTER - lay inwards throughout the run home.
IVANA LEGACY - held up throughout the run home.
WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE - Driver N Williamson was issued with a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
Race 9   JOIN THE FUN AT OFFNRACING.CO.NZ MOBILE PACE
COOL IDEA - Driver M Hurrell will be spoken to regarding the manner he drove racing into the first bend when shifting ground outwards forcing MATAI CHARLOTTE wider on the track.
BEEZ NEEZ - out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
BLACKJACK ROAD - broke in the score-up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
MR CASH MAN - out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Improved three-wide without cover from the 1200 metres. When questioned regarding the gelding's performance trainer/driver N Williamson reported the horse had raced roughly on several occasions during the running having to be steadied. He added that it was his intention to make gear changes which would at the least include shortening the horse's hopples. Stewards will follow up with Mr Williamson in the coming days.
THE BIG LEBOWSKI - out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
