Trainer K Williams advised Stewards on 5 August that blood tests taken from ALDEBARAN HEATHER revealed no abnormalities with the mare now being sent for a spell.

Race 1   CUP WEEK HOSPITALITY PACKAGES- NOW ON SALE TROT
RANDOM SPUR - trainer C Morrison was warned for failing to affix mudguards to his sulky.
CHEEKY MONKEY - broke near the 1400 metres losing its chance. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial prior to resuming.
MYSHOUT - began awkwardly. Slow in the early stages.
MAGNIFIQUE DIMANCHE - raced wide from the 700 metres.
MAJESTIC JAG - hung outwards in the run home. Trotted roughly under pressure before breaking passing the 50 metres. The connections advised it was their intention to make gear changes to the gelding prior to resuming.
SHIFFTY - broke at the start settling at the rear. Held up on the final bend. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
SHOW THE WAY - trotted roughly rounding the final bend losing ground.
BUILD A BRIDGE - broke approaching the first bend losing ground before settling. Broke again passing the 400 metres losing its chance.
Race 2   SPECTATORS - NEW SPECIALS! MOBILE PACE
TALENT AGENT - when spoken to regarding the performance trainer K Barron advised that in his opinion the horse was unsuited to the solid tempo set when leading in the prevailing track conditions.
WHITE STAR ORLANDO - when spoken to regarding the performance trainer J Thomas advised the gelding had over-raced throughout with the effort taking its toll.
FLY LIKA FALCON - underwent and passed a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable length of time.
LIFE OF ART - trainer D Simpson was warned for failing to affix mudguards to his sulky. Paced roughly late in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Paced roughly in the home straight.
JORDY - driver J Morrison was questioned in relation to an incident early in the run home when his left foot shifted from the sulky footrest and contacted the gelding's near hind leg. Mr Morrison explained that JORDY has an unusual high action in behind and had been contacting the sulky crossbar prior to his foot slipping from the footrest resulting in the contact. He further advised the connections had unsuccessfully used various sulkies in recent racing in an attempt to rectify this and would look to make further adjustments which may include using a sulky that does not have a crossbar fitted.
ROLLYOUROWN - when spoken to regarding the performance driver T Williams advised the gelding had failed to respond to his urgings when placed under pressure in the run home after improving wide in the middle stages. Mr Williams added that the horse may be better suited when being driven with cover.
Race 3   AIRPARK CANTERBURY HANDICAP TROT
SALVO - over-raced middle stages.
LUMINOSITY - over-raced middle stages.
THE BLOSS - weakened final bend.
PHOEBE ONYX - when spoken to regarding the gelding's performance both trainer J Howe and driver J Cox could offer no explanation and were disappointed with the effort. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding in the coming days.
MADELEINE STOWE - when spoken to regarding the performance driver P Davis advised that the mare had been unable to make up ground when improving wide on the final bend after becoming poorly placed at the rear of the field.
KOWHAI SUNDOWN - trotted roughly in the early stages. Broke near the 100 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
YURI - broke near the 150 metres losing its chance.
Race 4   NZB STANDARDBRED FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
PAMPELONNE - raced keenly final bend.
YOUNGGIFTEDANDBLACK - late scratching at 10.30am on veterinary advice.
MAID OF MONEY - broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
LIZZIE RICHTER - broke near the 1300 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing record.
Race 5   LASER PLUMBING CHCH WEST- GENERATION HOMES TROT
There was a delay to the start when several runners approached the tape too quickly resulting in CALL THIS FUN breasting the barrier strand. Driver J Ford will be spoken to regarding this in the coming days.
SODS LAW - Stewards viewed an incident in the run home where driver J Geddes turned his whip and commenced to use it in a striking motion free of the rein however had immediately corrected himself. Notwithstanding this Mr Geddes was reminded of his obligations.
TAKE AFTER ME - trainer F Scott was warned for failing to affix mudguards to his sulky.
CALL THIS FUN - raced wide from the 700 metres. Broke near the 50 metres and continued in a gallop to the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had galloped for 50 metres or greater inside the final 200 metres. After viewing the films and hearing evidence from Stewards and driver J Ford the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the protest.
TOP HAT AND TAILS - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the race.
ALVIRA HEST - weakened final bend.
Race 6   HYDROFLOW MOBILE PACE
CHAMPAGNEANDWINE - late scratching at 9am on veterinary advice.
SUGAR ME - received mid-race pressure when leading from the over-racing GIVEMEWHATINEED.
GIVEMEWHATINEED - over-raced early and middle stages and was taken forward approaching the 1200 metres and continued to pull hard for some distance when on terms with the leader.
Race 7   LIVAMOL MOBILE PACE
THE TERRORFIER - driver R May was spoken to regarding the manner he drove approaching the 1400 metres which caused an easing of the pace to the two wide line. Held up on the final bend and early stages of the run home. Had to be steadied passing the 200 metres when awkwardly positioned between runners.
FIVE STAR GENERAL - forced wider on the track approaching the 1200 metres and then raced wide with cover for the remainder.
VESNINA - weakened final bend. When spoken to regarding the performance driver K Newman advised the mare had worked hard from the 1200 metres to race in the parked position and may be better suited when driven with cover.
UNCLE CHAN - raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule approaching the 1200 metres when FIVE STAR GENERAL briefly raced wider on the track. After questioning driver S Thornley (assisted by B Orange) it was established that UNCLE CHAN had commenced to shift outwards prior to FIVE STAR GENERAL reaching that runner's sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.
JOURNO - trainer T Bagrie was warned for failing to affix mudguards to his sulky.
Race 8   RIPPLE CREEK RACING SUPPORTS ANDREW & THE SALLIES HCP TROT
MAJESTIC ACTION - over-raced middle stages. Held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
PUZZLED - weakened leaving the final bend. When spoken to regarding the performance driver K Newman advised the mare may not have been suited to setting a strong tempo after leading and may be better suited being driven with cover.
CHIEF OF STAFF - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
THE DOMINATOR - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
WOODSTONE - trotted roughly throughout the final straight.
Race 9   FIRST DIRECT TAXIS MOBILE PACE
SAGINAW - driver S O'Reilly was spoken to regarding the manner in which she shifted ground approaching the 500 metres despite not being in possession of a clear advantage. Paced roughly near the 150 metres.
SKIDADDLE - trainer C Smith was warned for failing to affix mudguards to his sulky.
ARDEN'S DELIGHT - lay outwards and raced greenly when shifting to the front near the 1100 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams advised the horse had worked hard in the middle stages to obtain the lead with the effort taking its toll.
HELLO ADELE - raced keenly in the early stages when in the parked position.
DHAULAGIRI - hampered entering the final bend when pressured outwards by an inside runner.
KEISHA - had to be steadied near the 1100 metres when awkwardly positioned close to the sulky of SAGINAW when there was a slight easing of the pace.
THE OPTIMIST - hung in the score up and was out of position at the candy pole. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
