Race 2   MCMILLAN EQUINE FEEDS NZ JUNIOR DRIVERS (HEAT 3) TROT
The start was delayed when TRES MAGNIFIQUE was awkwardly placed close to the barrier strand.
ZSAHARA - broke briefly at the start. Broke again near the 2300 metres losing all chance.
CODY BANNER - broke near the 2400 metres and shifted outwards making contact with the sulky of REGAL APPOINTMENT which was hampered. Broke again near the 600 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Driver S Tomlinson reported the gelding lost the off front shoe during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the right front coronary band consistent with over-reaching.
TYENE - slow to begin and then trotted roughly over the early stages before breaking after 100 metres losing all chance.
FRANCO JOSIAH - broke shortly after the start.
DREAMSINTHE MIST - broke near the 2400 metres.

MELODY'S MISCHIEF - slightly out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S Tomlinson.
CLASSEY ROBIN - raced wide without cover from the 700 metres. When questioned regarding the mare's performance driver M Hurrell could offer no tangible explanation. Trainer G Smith advised the mare races best when able to be saved for one run and was not suited to racing three wide without cover, however, despite this he was still slightly disappointed with the effort.
SNEAK A PEEK - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained.
Race 4   SPECTATORS $16 ICONIC KIWI ROAST TROT
BACARDI PRIDE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
GINAS MAJESTY - trotted roughly when hanging inwards throughout the run home. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer/driver I Cameron advised the gelding had appreciated the slower tempo of today's race when compared to its recent starts, had received a favourable run today and also improved with recent racing.
ALDEBARAN HEATHER - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
INSTANT DELIGHT - broke passing the 1900 metres. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 800 metres. Briefly placed in restricted room near the 350 metres.

Mr Meredith was also spoken to advisedly for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the home straight.
ASHES OF DESIRE - briefly placed in restricted room when weakening near the 350 metres after FRANCO HOFFMAN and ROCKNROLL MAMA shifted ground.
ROCKNROLL MAMA - momentarily placed ASHES OF DESIRE in restricted room when shifting ground on the final bend. When questioned about the mare's performance Junior Driver A Drake said the horse had raced 3 wide with cover from the 650 metres and whilst it improved wide on the final bend the fast tempo of the race meant it was unable to make up any ground over the concluding stages. Trainer M Purvis said it was his intention to freshen the mare before racing again.

JUSTIN FUN - paced roughly over the final stages.
FOURTH AMENDMENT - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1700 metres.

ROLLYARRRZ - trainer J Harrington was issued a warning for presenting ROLLYARRRZ with the incorrect saddlecloth number. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule when LIZZIE RICHTER raced wider on the track near the 1000 metres. However, it was established that ROLLYARRRZ had improved outwards prior to LIZZIE RICHTER reaching its sulky wheel and as a result no further action was deemed necessary.
JUSTACE - the connections advised the gelding would be racing without front shoes. Held up final bend. Driver R May will be spoken to regarding using his whip free of the rein in the run home.
LECONTE - held up for clear racing room on the final bend.
ROCKIN VA VA - lay inwards and locked stays with LIZZIE RICHTER near the 1650 metres resulting in LIZZIE RICHTER breaking. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
