Race 1   BOOK YOUR MID-WINTER CHRISTMAS AT ALEX PARK TROT
MAJESTIC PRINCESS - broke at the start and trailed the field throughout. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the Trainer's request.
HILL OF PEACE - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Broke near the 800 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed of the mare's racing manners.
CHICAGO H - slow to begin.
TRIXTON TIME - broke briefly at the start. Raced four wide from the 750 metres.
SAFRAKOVA - held up final turn.
WANNA SNUGGLE - improved three wide with cover from the 750 metres but only battled in the run home to finish in 8th place beaten 5.6 lengths. When questioned Trainer/Driver J Dickie stated that he was disappointed with the performance and would be having the filly vetted in the coming days. Mr Dickie advised that he will contact Stewards should anything surface that would explain the run.
ALDEBARAN FLAME - held up early final turn.
Race 2   NOEL TAYLOR NZ TROTTING HALL OF FAME MOB PACE
MEETMEINSORRENTO - held up over the final 50 metres.
WE HAVE A MACH TWO - raced keenly middle stages. Contacted several marker pegs near the 850 metres. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the early and middle stages of the home straight.
SETTLE PETAL - inconvenienced briefly near the 1000 metres when there was an easing of the pace.
BETTOR LISTEN - raced three wide early.
TOODALOOLOU - inconvenienced briefly near the 1000 metres when there was an easing of the pace.
STAC - inconvenienced briefly near the 1000 metres when there was an easing of the pace. Commenced to improve three wide with cover from the 750 metres but made little impression in the run home to finish in 10th place beaten 6.1 lengths. When questioned Driver J Dunn stated that the gelding had not been suited by the tempo of the race and then lost ground when veering out rounding the home turn in what was its first race right handed.
MURPHYS REWARD - raced three wide early when unsuccessfully competing for a position in the running line which was being held by STAC. Commenced to over-race shortly after and was taken forward to race outside the leader near the 1200 metres.
Race 3   THE ALEX BAR & EATERY HANDICAP TROT
SALVO - trotted roughly early. Weakened rounding the final turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up with Trainer J Harrington in the coming days.
KELVINZ LUCK - broke at the start losing ground before settling. Trotted roughly passing the 400 metres.
Trainer J Harrington advised Stewards on 20 June that SALVO was showing signs of a virus subsequent to the race and will be sent for a spell.
Race 4   NZB STANDARDBRED UNCUT GEMS AGED TROTTERS CLASSIC HCP TROT
RAIN MIST AND MUSCLE - slow to begin.
KINGS LANDING - when questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance Co-trainer M Wallis stated that the gelding had been able to captalise on an economical run on the markers throughout.
SERTORIUS - slow to begin. Over-raced briefly middle stages when runners improved to its outside. Weakened in the run home.
MIDNIGHT DASH - momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 200 metres. When questioned regarding the performance Driver B Hope advised that the gelding had been slightly disappointing and will be turned out for a spell.
CREDIT MASTER - Driver N Williamson was cautioned after he allowed the gelding to shift out when activating the deafeners on straightening for the run home which resulted in MIDNIGHT DASH being momentarily inconvenienced.
Race 5   SOUTHERN CROSS PARTNERS MOBILE PACE
ROUGH AND READY - connections advised that the gelding cast the near fore shoe during the running.
RAVEN BANNER - broke early in the score up and was back a length at dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners.
SATCHMO - over-raced middle stages when three back on the inner. Held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
Race 6   EMPIRE STALLIONS (NZ) UNCUT GEMS MARES CLASSIC MOB PACE
THE BLUE BEAT - badly hampered by the weakening LE POLE DANCER leaving the back straight the final time.
LE POLE DANCER - commenced to give ground inside the 800 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up with Trainer M Nyhan in the coming days.
TAS GIRL BROMAC - over-raced middle stages.
BETTERBEBETTER - raced three wide early. Weakened final turn.
I'MALLABOUTTHEBASE - raced three wide early and middle stages.
CHEEZEL - raced four wide from the 700 metres.
TRES CHIC - paced roughly entering the first turn when having been shifted down onto the markers by DRACARYS. Held up from the 100 metres.
Stable representative P Davis advised Stewards on 24 June that LE POLE DANCER has been sent for a spell.
Race 7   SIMS PACIFIC METALS -MONEY FOR METAL HANDICAP PACE
OHOKA ACHILLES - Driver O Gillies admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1050 metres after he shifted his gelding out off the marker line and forced FRANKIE JONES to race wide on the track. The JCA imposed a $200 fine.
FRANKIE JONES - broke at the start but soon settled.
SPIRIT OF ANZAC - broke at the start losing ground before settling. Lay in and dislodged a marker peg near the 250 metres. Held up briefly early in the run home. Contacted the final marker peg at the winning post when in restricted room.
J BEE - paced roughly passing the 1800 metres. Paced roughly again under pressure late in the run home.
Race 8   BetaVet UNCUT GEMS ENTIRES & GELDINGS CLASSIC MOB PACE
MIGHTY LOOEE - held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
PULL THE OTHER LEG - held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
WARLOCH - Co-Trainers S Reid & S McMullan were charged a $25 fee for failing to have the correct colours available.
FABRIZIO - raced three wide early.
STEEL THE SHOW - checked and broke entering the first turn when racing to the inside of MIGHTY LOOEE losing its chance and was retired from the event. An investigation was held into this incident and after hearing evidence from Drivers J Dunn (STEEL THE SHOW), K Newman (MIGHTY LOOEE) , L Whittaker (PULL THE OTHER LEG), M McKendry (MACH'S BACK) and viewing the replays, blame could not be solely attributed to any individual Driver or horse and no further action was taken other than to note the circumstances. In considering this matter Stewards were mindful that PULL THE OTHER LEG had lay in despite the efforts of Mr Whittaker and contributed to the incident.
Race 9   CADUCEUS CLUB MOBILE PACE
EYECON - held up early in the run home.
SPICE IT UP - lay in rounding the final turn when improving wide. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
WILLSHEROCKNROLL - over-raced briefly middle stages.
Race 10   GRAND PARK MOBILE PACE
ARDEN VELOCITY - received mid-race pressure when leading from the over-racing GETN WIGGY WITHIT.
JONO B - hampered by the breaking FATHER QUINN inside the 800 metres.
GETN WIGGY WITHIT - lay in the score up. Raced three wide early and continued to lay in at various stages. Over-raced when outside the leader during the middle stages. Weakened final turn. Driver T Herlihy advised that the gelding had failed to settle at any stage of the event.
FATHER QUINN - broke passing the 800 metres hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
Race 11   AUCKLAND CO-OP TAXIS 300-3000 TROT
AARDIEBYTHEHILL - broke at the start losing ground before settling at the rear.
CRUISE LINER - broke for several strides at the start. Hampered by the breaking DEBBIE LEE GALLEON approaching the 200 metres having to take evasive action. Driver T Macfarlane was questioned regarding his apparent lack of vigour over the final stages. Mr Macfarlane stated that he had been required to balance up his runner after being hampered early in the run home and felt that the colt was doing its best when unable to make up ground on the leaders over the final stages. Mr Macfarlane's comments were noted.
DEBBIE LEE GALLEON - broke rounding the final turn losing its chance. Drivers O Gillies (DEBBIE LEE GALLEON) and T Mitchell (SOLEDAD) were questioned regarding this incident. It was established that DEBBIE LEE GALLEON had contacted a marker peg when racing in restricted room to the inside of SOLEDAD, which lay in despite the efforts of Mr Mitchell, and had then knuckled over in behind causing it to break. Stewards took the matter no further other than to note the circumstances.
EIGHT MILES HIGH - broke rounding the first turn but soon settled.
DOLLY P - Driver M Perriton was spoken to advisedly for using her whip on several occasions free of the rein passing the 100 metres.
PHOEBE MAJESTIC - held up early in the run home then broke inside the 150 metres losing its chance.
