Stewards questioned driver M Williamson regarding his decision to shift inwards and race against the pylons near the 750 metres when until that time he had been following the well supported ZIA BROMAC. Mr Williamson explained that the parked ROSIES TERROR was being urged along by its driver and the two wide line had begun to lose ground on the leaders. He said that because of this he expected both LIL RIPPER and OPPORTUNITY KNOX to shift outwards on the bend and if he had of improved wide believed he would be taken extremely wide. For this reason he thought his best chance was an inside passage however this had not eventuated when ROSIES TERROR had held its position among the field longer than he anticipated. Stewards deemed his explanation to be reasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.
