Supplementary

Wyndham HRC - Thursday, 1st April 2021
Race 9 - MLT WYNDHAM CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
Trainer C Ferguson advised Stewards on 7 April that CHUCKLES is being treated for a virus.
Race 10 - MLT / THREE RIVERS MOBILE PACE
Trainer C Ferguson advised Stewards on 7 April that NEW YORK MAN is being treated for a virus.
Driver J Douglas (YANKEE SHARD) defended a charge of Careless Driving near the 150 metres when making contact with the sulky of BENIO BEN and breaking in consequence. After hearing evidence from the Stewards and Mr Douglas the Judicial Committee found the charge proved and following penalty submissions imposed a suspension of Mr Douglas' licence to drive from the 11th April up to and including 23rd April (3 days)
Stewards concluded their investigation into WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE breaking early in the home straight. After interviewing Drivers R McIlwrick (MISS AUCKLAND) and J Morrison (WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE) and viewing the films in summary Mr McIlwrick advised he had shifted back into the Passing Lane to avoid BENIO BEN when he realised that horse was stopping quickly and as a result briefly placed WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE in tight quarters, resulting in that horse breaking. In evidence Mr Morrison advised that the actions of Mr McIlwrick had little influence on his horse breaking. Mr McIlwrick was issued with a warning for the manner he shifted ground.

Stewards spoke with Driver C Ferguson regarding the manner in which he drove over the final 50 metres when he did not appear to pressure his runner. Mr Ferguson explained that the mare had sat parked through its first start and in his opinion was not entirely suited to the easy track conditions. He added that his runner had lay inwards for the majority of the run and specifically on the final bend and in the middle stages of the run home when under pressure. He said that ROCK MY MIND had locked on the outside rein after being corrected at the 80 metres until after the finishing line. After reviewing the films and hearing from Mr Ferguson Stewards accepted the explanation tendered however reminded Mr Ferguson of his obligations under Rule 868 (3).
AH MACH - when questioned regarding the tactics adopted on his mare in the back straight Trainer/Driver N Williamson advised AH MACH had struggled to make the bends on the tight track and was not able to be improved until balanced up in a straight line. He said that he had hoped ROCK MY MIND would be able to take him further into the race but when that runner was not able to go with the leader he had shifted outwards at the 500 metres which had not suited his runner who lay inwards and had to be steadied. Mr Williamson added that it was his intention to add a rein pricker to the horses gear and where possible his intention would be to restrict the mare to racing on bigger tracks.
