Race 1   BMTT DESIGN ART MOBILE PACE
CONQUISTADOR - the required Veterinary clearance was received. Struck itself during the running with a post-race veterinary examination revealed a medial pastern injury to its left fore leg. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.
DIDJASEEMYSHADOW - paced roughly shortly after the start.
NED KELLY - hung outwards throughout the run home and shifted up the track. Authorisation of the gelding's 1st placing was withheld until Driver C DeFilippi confirmed that the 4th placed ULTIMATE BIRD's chance was not affected by NED KELLY's outward movement. Junior Driver K Newman was cautioned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home. Mr Newman was also warned in regard to using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion.
ART'S BETTOR SECRET - Driver J Cox defended a charge issued under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he shifted inwards dictating the line of DIDJASEEMYSHADOW which in turn caused interference to NADIRA FRANCO approximately 200 metres after the start. After viewing the replays and hearing from all parties the JCA upheld the charge and suspended Mr Cox's licence from the conclusion of racing on 12 January 2021 up to and including 20 January 2021 (4 days).
LE POLE DANCER - raced wide early stages.
MABALENE - paced roughly in the home straight.
ULTIMATE BIRD - briefly crowded in the home straight by NED KELLY which shifted ground outwards.
NADIRA FRANCO - checked and broke after 150 metres losing ground.
Race 2   TOWN & COUNTRY VETS TROT
ANTEROS - hung inwards and broke near the 250 metres.
FAR MORE ZEALOUS - checked and broke racing into the first bend losing all chance.
ILSAS SON - broke at the start losing ground. Driver R Anderson was warned for using his whip free of the rein in the home straight.
DESBOIS - broke at the start losing all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of the connections.
TUSCAN SUN - hampered near the 1400 metres losing ground. Trotted roughly when weakening final bend.
MUCHACHA BONITA - trotted roughly through the middle stages. Weakened from the 600 metres. Driver R Close admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly racing into the first bend by shifting ground inwards when insufficiently clear of FAR MORE ZEALOUS which was checked and broke. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mr Close's licence from the conclusion of racing on 13 January 2021 up to and including 17 January 2021. (2 days)
SHES SO RIGHT - weakened from the 600 metres.
KENNY KEKO - Driver M Bryers defended a charge of Rule 869(3)(f) in that he drove improperly by shifting into the passing lane near the 1500 metres and improving his position to the inside of TUSCAN SUN. After viewing replays and hearing the evidence the JCA upheld the charge and suspended his licence from the conclusion of racing on 15 January 2021 up to and including the 15 April 2021 (3 months) and in addition imposed a fine of $400.
TYENE - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
ACTION PACKED - broke at the start losing all chance.
MENTALIST - broke near the 200 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the horse. A protest was lodged against the gelding's 4th placing under Rule 870(3) & the Breaking Horses Regulation on the grounds of the gelding breaking in excess of 50 metres in the final 200 metres of the race. Driver C McDowell did not contest the protest and the horse was disqualified by the JCA.
SAMANTHAS MOON - broke at the start losing all chance.
Race 3   MOUNT HUTT TROTTING CLUB MOBILE PACE
FLO MOTION - lay outwards through the middle stages.
BETTOR ACHIEVER - broke after 150 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts at the request of the connections.
REGGIE GOLIGHTLY - raced greenly through the middle stages. Weakened from the 500 metres. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver J Dunn reported the gelding had worked hard in the early stages with the effort taking its toll.
DIDJASEETHAT - weakened from the 800 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
GLAMOUR BOY - broke in the score-up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up final bend.
TEAGAN BANNER - Driver B Orange reported that he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
SWEET AFFINITY - held up for a distance through the middle stages.
CHEAPCHEAP - broke in the score-up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
OWHATANIGHT - held up final bend.
AMARLA - weakened from the 800 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the filly.
Race 4   HOUSTON MOTORS / DUNSTAN HORSEFEEDS TROT
GOTTA TICKET - pre-race warmed. Broke shortly after the start losing ground. Broke again on several occasions during the running losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
FIVE WISE MEN - the rein pricker was removed prior to the start due to the horse warming up unfavourably. Broke at the start losing considerable ground. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of the connections.
MICHELLE - reared as the start was effected and stood on the mark losing ground.
THIS TIME GAMBLE - broke at the start losing ground. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke again near the 1200 metres when having to be steadied losing ground.
MAKE MY SUNDON - broke at the start losing ground. Placed on the Unruly at the request of trainer A Best.
THAT'S THE STORY - fractious prior to the start.
MEGA PIXELS - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
ILLEGAL ALIEN - hampered by breaking runners in the early stages. Weakened final bend.
RED HARBOUR - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Authorisation of 5th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied that the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
THANK YOU - broke at the start losing ground.
Race 5   DAVID & JAN BIRDLING SPORTS TRUST PACE
There was a delay to the start when the sulky wheel was required to be replaced on HIGH FLYING HARRY after being contacted by MELANDO CHIEF prior to the start.
HIGH FLYING HARRY - broke at the start losing ground. Checked near the 1000 metres.
ROLLWITHIT - Driver C DeFilippi admitted a breach of Rule 869(4) and the Home Straight Regulations in that he allowed his horse to shift outwards near the 150 metres resulting in his runner locking wheels with GREAT PRESENCE and checking the trailing HITTHEROADJACK and DOCTOR STEVE. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Mr DeFilippi's licence from the conclusion of racing on 10 January 2021 up to and including 17 January 2021 (3 days)
CAPTAIN CONFETTI - broke shortly after the start settling towards the rear of the field. Checked near the 1000 metres.
THE HYENA - broke rounding the first bend losing ground. Weakened near the 500 metres.
MELANDO CHIEF - the gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. The gelding was sent to the Unruly after causing a delay to the start. The Stewards placed the gelding on the Unruly for future standing starts.
ROCKNIZZY RULZ - the mare underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start after proving difficult when leaving the stabling area prior to the race.
ANNERIE - broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of 1st place was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the filly had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
HITTHEROADJACK - backed away at the start and was slow to begin. Checked and broke near the 150 metres.
GREAT PRESENCE - locked wheels with ROLLWITHIT near the 150 metres and badly impeded.
PEMBROOK TILLY - over-raced middle stages. Broke near the 1000 metres checking trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
LIVING DELIGHT - broke at the start losing ground. Checked near the 1000m. Weakened from the 400 metres.
DOCTOR STEVE - broke in the early stages losing ground. Checked near the 1000 metres. Again checked near the 150 metres.
Race 6   PALMS MOTEL / NBS MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared due to several horses being inconvenienced in the score-up.
DONEGAL CARNBOUY - held up final bend. Driver A Cameron was spoken to advisedly in regard to using her whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion.
CONTRACTUAL ISSUES - raced wide without cover from the 1500 metres. Weakened final bend. Driver G Smith was spoken to advisedly in regard to using his whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion when attempting to improve passing the 1500 metres.
MAGICOL IDEAL - raced wide with cover from the 1500 metres.
GIVEMEWHATINEED - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
PROVISEUR - weakened final bend. Driver R Holmes could offer no explanation and was disappointed with its effort. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
ASHES TO ASHES - Acting on a report provided by the Racing Investigator after the horse had received treatment contrary to the One Clear Day Rule, Stewards ordered that ASHES TO ASHES be late scratched at 4.50pm acting under Rules 213(1)(c) and 1004C. An investigation was opened into this matter.
UNO MIA - held up final bend before breaking after being checked.
MALINKA - raced wide early stages. Over-raced middle stages.
Race 7   HOANI JACK CUP MOBILE PACE
SILK - over-raced in the score-up contacting the mobile gate resulting in it momentarily racing erratically late in the score-up inconveniencing two outside runners.
SCELTA UNO - momentarily inconvenienced late in the score-up.
BOOM - briefly crowded late in the score-up and was back slightly at the start.
QUEENOFDANCE - held up rounding the final turn.
Race 8   CLUB WAIMEA PACE
There was a delay to the start at request of the TAB. A further delay when there was an issue with the barrier strand.
PENELOPE BROMAC - broke approaching the 1700 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
POCKET ROCKNROLL - broke near the 1200 metres losing all chance. Driver A Cameron reported the horse had been striking a knee. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
CLASSY KID - weakened from inside the 400 metres.
ROCKNTOMMY RULZ - raced wide early.
BONNIE BOY - broke at the start losing ground. Held up final turn.
GOLDEN LACE - hampered by a breaking runner passing the 1200 metres.
ZIPPIDY DOODAH - held up final turn.
ARDENT LUSTRE - checked by a breaking runner passing the 1200 metres.
KHAKI NUI - raced wide early.
Race 9   NELSON PINE INDUSTRIES NELSON CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
CHEEZEL - broke at the start losing ground.
LAVER - broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages. Driver G O'Reilly was spoken to for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking only motion in the home straight.
SPELLBOUND - broke at the start losing ground.
BURLINGTON - held up early stages of the run home.
Race 10   TOMMY BEHRNS HANDICAP TROT
MIKEMARO - held up leaving the final bend. Hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages of the run home.
I DREAM OF JEANNIE - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Broke over the concluding stages. Stewards lodged a Protest under Rule 870(5) against 4th place being awarded to the horse alleging that the mare was lapped on by MADELEINE STOWE. Trainer S Smolenski did not contest the Protest and I DREAM OF JEANNIE was relegated to 5th by the JCA.
LUMINOSITY - broke at the start losing all chance.
SIOUX PRINCESS - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Hung outwards final bend when under pressure.
PUZZLED - trotted roughly final bend. Driver J Dunn reported that the mare cast a shoe near the 1200 metres.
CHIEF OF STAFF - broke at the start losing ground. Broke leaving the final bend.
MADELEINE STOWE - hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages of the run home.
OVERZEALOUS - over-raced middle stages. Held up final bend.
SUNNY GLENIS - broke approaching the 150 metres.
Race 11   DIAMOND RACING STABLES MOBILE PACE
ARTATAC - hung out throughout the run home.
B K SWY - paced roughly late in the score-up. Held up throughout the run home. Driver S McNally reported that he did not activate the removable deafeners.
JAZELLE - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
IMMER BESSER - held up early stages of the run home.
TIGER LOU - raced wide early stages.
PAY ME VISA - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room over the concluding stages.
SONIC REIGN - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home. Driver T Williams reported that he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord breaking.
SHEZSOMETHINSPECIAL - over-raced middle stages.
JUDGEMENT BAY - raced wide from the 1200 metres.
