Driver B Weaver (SILVER SURFER) admitted using his whip free of the rein and with more than a wrist flicking motion in the home straight and after penalty submissions the JCA suspended his licence from the conclusion of racing on 3 January up to and including 17 January 2021 (3 days) and in addition imposed a fine of $200.

Race 1   RANGIORA HRC WELCOMES 2021 TROT
HE'S A CASSANOVA - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 450 metres.
NUGGET RIDGE - hung inwards through the middle stages. Trotted roughly prior to breaking near the 500 metres checking trailing runner.
BREAK FREE - checked by breaking runner near the 450 metres.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - driver J Young-Grant reported she did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
ILSAS SON - broke and shifted outwards at the start. Trotted roughly early stages of the run home.
ROYAL DIEDRE - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Raced four wide near the 700 metres. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 450 metres.
SILVERLININGS - broke at the start and was restrained to its correct gait before breaking again shortly afterwards. Authorisation of 5th place was withheld until Stewards were satisfied that the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages.
SHEZA MIGHTY MONARCH - checked and broke near the 450 metres.
READY I AM - over-raced middle stages. Checked by a breaking runner near the 450 metres. Hung inwards throughout the run home.
BOURBON ON THE ROCKS - over-raced middle stages. Broke near the 500 metres checking trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 2   RANGIORA HYUNDAI MOBILE PACE
IT'S A LAUGH - hung outwards and was held up leaving the final bend.
SPORTSCAM - raced four wide from the 600 metres.
I MISS MUM - driver K Cox reported she sustained a flat tyre near the 450 metres. Ms Cox was warned for using her whip free of the rein near the 500 metres.
SHADOW AVEROSS - driver A Mugford was spoken to for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion on the first bend. Miss Mugford admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly when shifting ground near the 450 metres striking the sulky wheel of I MISS MUM causing it to deflate. After hearing penalty submissions the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
PERFECT CUT - hung inwards at various stages through the running.

MAJESTIC ROLLON - weakened from near the 900 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance record of the mare.
STEEL DUST - fractious prior to the start.
MICHELLE - hung outwards final bend and in the early stages of the run home. Broke with 150 metres to run.
FAITH NO MORE - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the event. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial.
RUSTY I AM - weakened from near the 700 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance record of the gelding.

KOWHAI SUNDOWN - trainer M Jones was warned for presenting stable runners KOWHAI SUNDOWN and ORLANDO MAGIC with the incorrect numbers. Broke with 150 metres to run.
ORLANDO MAGIC - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the event.
RED HARBOUR - broke briefly at the start. Raced four wide without cover passing the 1000 metres.
ARISTOCRAT - paced before breaking at the start losing considerable ground. Broke again near the 1600 metres. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial.
Race 4   PORT & EAGLE BREWPUB MOBILE PACE
PHONE TAP - paced roughly and broke racing into the first bend hampering a trailing runner. When spoken to regarding this driver J Young-Grant advised the filly had broken free of interference. Again paced roughly on the final bend. When spoken to regarding the performance trainer B Negus advised that he was disappointed with the filly's effort today and he would be restricting her to grass tracks in the immediate future.
JORDY - paced roughly at various stages throughout.
PIECE OF GOLD - held up early stages of the run home.
OPAWA LOUIE - hung and paced roughly late in the score up and was out of position at the start. Raced greenly throughout.
IDEAL GRACE - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend. Raced wide early stages.
CLASSIE WASHINGTON - driver T Chmiel was spoken to for using his whip outside the confines of the sulky in the home straight.
SPORTY CELINE - held up on the final bend and early stages of the run home.
ROCKNSNAP - hung inwards on the bends.

BEAUVIEW GEM - late scratching at 9.50am on Veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
MEGAROCK - held up final bend and early stages of the run home.
TAUMATA VC - the required veterinary clearance was received.
HURCHANA - broke at the start losing ground. Paced roughly at various stages through the running. Weakened from the 500 metres. Trainer/driver T McMillan advised he will be restricting the mare to mobile starts where possible in the immediate future.
TWILIGHT BROMAC - Co-trainers C & C Dalgety were warned for being late to notify the colt has been gelded since last racing.
MISS BEHAVIN - weakened final bend. When spoken to regarding the performance driver K Butt was unable to offer any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
BROTHER JOHN - raced wide early stages. Lay inwards before weakening on the final bend.
WESTAR LAD - paced roughly at various stages throughout.
TYKE - hung inwards and weakened on the final bend. Driver J Cox reported he had difficulty steering the mare after she got her tongue over the bit.
DAGGY LAMB - raced wide without cover from the 1100 metres. Paced roughly middle stages of the run home.
LEANDER - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke again passing the 2200 metres and was retired from the event. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial. The gelding returned lame to the stabling area. A post race veterinary examination revealed a cracked pastern. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
RADIOACTIVE JAFFA - driver C Thornley reported he dropped his whip near the 200 metres.
Race 6   RANGIORA MITRE 10 PACE
HANDSOME HARRY - locked wheels for a short distance with SWEENEY TODD leaving the final bend after inside runners shifted ground.
ART COLLECTOR - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
ADMIRABLE - raced wide around the first bend.
LOYALIST - held up final bend. Driver B Hope was warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in the early stages of the home straight when placing outside runners in restricted room.
LITTLE RAIN - crowded in the early stages of the home straight.
SISTER'S DELIGHT - over-raced middle stages. Held up on the final bend.
SWEENEY TODD - raced wide without cover from near the 1600 metres. Locked wheels for a short distance with HANDSOME HARRY leaving the final bend after being crowded by an inside runner.
JAFFA JOSH - slow to begin.

ROYAL DEL - broke after 150 metres losing ground.
AWAPUNI - broke at the start losing ground.
TAKE AFTER ME - broke passing the 800 metres losing its chance and was retired from the event.
NO FEARS - hung outwards on the final bend and throughout the home straight. Driver J Morrison was warned to make a greater effort to ensure his runner does not shift wider on the track.
SILVER SURFER - over-raced through the middle stages.
JERRY GARCIA - raced wide into the first bend.
UNIQUE ROSE - raced wide into the first bend. Raced wide without cover from the 800 metres. Weakened final bend.
GAYTANA - trotted roughly before breaking passing the 800 metres losing its chance.
SONOMA TYRON - broke after 150 metres losing ground.
Race 8   STANDARDBRED STABLE TO STIRRUP MOBILE PACE
BOORAA - held up final bend.
DASHTOTHEBEACH - held up passing the 600 metres by a weakening runner. Held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
STICK MAN - weakened from near the 600 metres after being unsuccessful when challenging for the lead passing the 1300 metres.
