Junior driver K Tomlinson (SWEET LORESS) (assisted by M Williamson) defended a breach of careless driving under Rule 869(3)(b) and after hearing evidence and viewing the films, the JCA dismissed the charge.

Race 1   FAT SALLY'S PUB & RESTAURANT TROT
PRINCE RANIER - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room over the concluding stages.
HALFWAY THERE - broke near the 2100 metres. Broke again at the 350 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
DEM BONES DEM BONES - broke racing into the first bend.
PEARLSPUR - broke at the start.
BREAK FREE - a false start was declared when BREAK FREE checked SHANDON BELLS prior to the start with BREAK FREE being sent to the unruly position. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
RANDOM SPUR - broke racing into the first bend. Broke again near the 1600 metres and the 500 metres losing its chance. Stood down pending a satisfactory trial.
PASTRANA - trotted roughly in the home straight.
EMDEEGEE - trotted roughly throughout the run home.
SHANDON BELLS - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. The near side number came adrift during the running.
Race 2   MORRISONS SADDLERY & FEED MOBILE PACE
MACH O'MELLEY - broke briefly entering the first bend.
ITZ THE CON ARTIST - raced wide around the first bend.
BONO BROWN - driver J Morrison reported he lost his whip on the final bend.
FRANCO HATTON - trainer L Smart was issued with a warning for presenting FRANCO HATTON without the notified blinds.
JEREMY WELLS - paced roughly in the early stages. Held up leaving the final bend.
LECONTE - driver S Tomlinson reported her horse contacted and punctured its own sulky tyre on the first bend. Treated for a minor laceration by the Veterinarian after the race.
Race 3   VETERINARY CENTRE OAMARU BY THE BIG BLUE CROSS PACE
DAGGY LAMB - hampered at the start by CHANGE AT THE TOP which swung sideways making heavy contact. Held up early stages of the home straight.
CHANGE AT THE TOP - broke at the start and swung sideways hampering DAGGY LAMB.
CAPTAIN CONFETTI - improved three wide without cover from the 900 metres and paced roughly passing the 600 metres.
BOULTON HOME - over-raced middle stages.
MARK DUNNETT - raced wide in the early stages.
SANTERIA - broke at the start.
MONGOLIAN MARSHAL - trainer G Court was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting MONGOLIAN MARSHAL without the notified sliding blinds. Hampered by breaking runners at the start. Held up on the final bend.
ART COLLECTOR - raced wide in the early stages.
FEELIN BETTOR - fractious and was out of position at the start.
TYKE - raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Race 4   WAITAKI REFRIGERATION LTD MOBILE PACE
PINE CONE - driver K Cameron will be spoken to in the coming days for using his whip free of the rein.
OHOKA CHOPPER - raced wide around the first bend. Held up throughout the run home.
DALNESS ARIZONA - raced wide around the first bend.
BETSTARS BLUE JEAN - when questioned regarding the improved performance, stable representative D Stapleton advised the mare had performed well at Motukarara at its first start back from a spell and had taken natural improvement from that run.
DREAMINSOVER - driver J Young-Grant was spoken to for using her whip free of the rein in the home straight.
FOR TODAY - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. When spoken to regarding the tactics he adopted passing the 600 metres, driver J Dunn advised that at its previous run on this course he had improved in the back straight and been forced wide with the horse having no finish as a result. Mr Dunn added that in his opinion if he had improved at this point again today he would have been forced wide on the track so elected to wait in an attempt to obtain a drag into the race. Mr Dunn's explanation was accepted.
CROSSO'S CULLECT - held up over the concluding stages.
PAUL'S VERDICT - the near side front shoe was removed prior to the start. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Driver K Cameron (PINE CONE) was warned for using his whip free of the rein.
Race 5   PICK & SHOVEL MOBILE PACE
There was a delay to the start after PERFECT CUT lost a front shoe in the preliminary with the other front shoe being removed.
CHARLIE'S ACE - raced wide from the 800 metres. Weakened final bend.
DECEPTIVE LEE - raced wide around the first bend.
ATOMIC TRAVELLER - broke passing the 900 metres.
Race 6   ONE SMART COFFEE JUNIOR DRIVERS TROT
BLACK JACKET - broke near the 500 metres.
SONOMA TYRON - broke at the start. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages.
THE ARTFUL DODGER - broke at the start. Broke again at the 1800 metres losing its chance.
GRAND PRINCESS - driver J Morrison reported he did not release the deafeners due to having the field covered.
DEBORAHS GEM - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching after having blood present in a nostril. An endoscopic examination confirmed the mare was not a bleeder however a further veterinary examination is required. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
ONE OVER DOVER - broke with approximately 80 metres to run and was disqualified from 5th placing by the JCA. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
MEGA PIXELS - hampered by a breaking runner at the start.
ORLANDO MAGIC - broke at the start losing all chance.
MADAM SASS - broke near the 1650 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
MIGHTY FLYING ROCKER - broke near the 1800 metres losing all chance.
Trainer J Morrison advised Stewards on 9 November that GRAND PRINCESS has been served since last racing.
Race 7   DAVID OVENS BUILDING FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
SENORITA MARGARITA - shifted up the track over the concluding stages when under pressure. Driver J Young-Grant reported the mare had been laying out throughout despite her efforts and she would be recommending gear changes be made prior to its next start.
MINNELLI SMILE - raced wide early stages.
CHAMPAGNEANDWINE - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
SNEAK A PEEK - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the candy pole.
Race 8   PGG WRIGHTSON MOBILE PACE
CHASE THE HAT TRICK - trainer K Chapman was warned for presenting the gelding with removable deafeners which had not been notified. Broke in the score up and lost its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
PRO SURFER - when spoken to regarding the performance, driver J Dunn explained that the gelding was not suited to the distance of today's race and he was disappointed with the effort.
BAILEYS DIAMOND - raced wide in the early and middle stages and over-raced when being restrained. Held up by a weakening runner near the 500 metres.
GLACIER COASTER - raced wide in the early stages and pulled hard when being restrained.
MIGHTY REACTOR - lay inwards and raced roughly near the 1000 metres.
DARRYL KERRIGAN - raced fiercely in the middle stages causing driver J Morrison some difficulty. Weakened near the 500 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 9   WILLIAMSON RACING STABLES TROT
BJ LINDENNY - broke at the start.
SHE'S ALLTHE CRAZE - when questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer B Negus advised the mare had been treated for dehydration subsequent to its last race (notified to Stewards on 16 October).
ESCARGO - broke racing into the first bend losing considerable ground.
MISSIE CASTLETON - trainer C Markham was warned for being late to notify the mare would be racing with fixed deafeners. Broke at the start. Driver C Markham reported a sulky tyre went flat about the 800 metres.
JERRY GARCIA - broke at the start. Again broke after 200 metres losing considerable ground.
COUNT EYRE - broke near the finishing line.
AMERICAN VIKING - broke near the 250 metres. A final warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
Race 10   RACING HERE 21ST NOVEMBER 2020 PACE
SECRET BET - broke briefly at the start.
MAKASAR BOY - held up final bend and throughout the run home.
SHE'S TOUGH - raced roughly and then broke for several strides in the early stages. Continued to race roughly on the first bend losing ground. Broke briefly near the 600 metres.
VICTOR TANGO - broke briefly at the start. Paced roughly through the back straight on the final occasion and lost ground.
FYNN FROST - driver K Cameron was spoken to regarding using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion.
MISS IMPRESSION - late scratching on veterinary advice at 8.23am. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
