Race 1   STEWART ISLAND FLIGHTS TROT
BONNIES DELIGHT - trotted roughly passing the 1200 metres and again near the 700 metres having to be steadied.
SACRED MOUNTAIN - broke at the start.
COOL PHELAN - broke shortly after the start. Again broke racing into the first bend.
DEM BONES DEM BONES - broke racing into the first bend. Again broke passing the 1300 metres losing all chance.
EMDEEGEE - broke shortly after the start. Again broke in the home straight. Reported to be making abnormal breathing noises on return to the birdcage. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Placed on the Unruly for future standing and mobile start engagements at the request of trainer D Simpson.
STEVE - driver J Cox reported he did not release the removable deafeners applied to the mare due to having the field covered.
BILL - broke at the start.
TEASE MY TARTAN - reared as the tapes were released and was then briefly hampered by a breaking runner.
PRINCE ENVY - broke at the start losing all chance.
Race 2   PAUL JONES NEW ZEALAND COURIER GORE MOBILE PACE
ELLNBAC - hung outwards in the score-up and was out of position at the candy pole. Continued to hang outwards on various occasions during the running. Over-raced through the middle stages. Weakened rounding the final bend. Driver B McLellan was spoken to advisedly for using the whip free of the rein.
DALLAS GRIMES - lay inwards rounding the first bend resulting in an easing of the pace in the one out line.
TETRICK - raced wide rounding the first bend.
CHANGEAROUND - raced wide rounding the first bend. Over-raced when being restrained to obtain cover in the middle stages.
LADY'S LASS - held up rounding the final bend.
FIREFOREFIDDLE - briefly hampered rounding the first bend when there was an easing of the pace. Over-raced in the early stages. Driver M Williamson was spoken to advisedly for using the whip free of the rein.
MAJOR MENACE - held up rounding the final bend and throughout the run home.
MIGHTY GEORGE - raced three-wide without cover from the 900 metres.
INDULGENCE - held up throughout the run home.
Race 3   WALKER MURDOCH MOBILE PACE
The start of this event was delayed approximately 1 minute at the request of Raceday Control.
ART PROFILE - hung inwards and paced roughly in the early stages.
MISS AUCKLAND - over-raced through the middle stages. Weakened over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare driver R McIlwrick could offer no tangible explanation. Trainer O Lawrence advised he would give consideration to spelling MISS AUCKLAND. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
ZIRCON LASS - underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination after falling in the stabling area and was cleared to start. Broke in the latter stages of the score-up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
MICKEY FITZ - held up in the early stages of the run home.
OLD LUKE - lay inwards rounding the bends.
Trainer O Lawrence advised Stewards on 13 October that MISS AUCKLAND has recovered well following its performance at Ascot Park on Saturday and in view of this will continue with her current preparation.
Race 4   MARCOOLA STANDING AT NEVELE R TROT
KIWITRIX - broke passing the 700 metres losing all chance.
SOUTH PARK - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
ALPINE RETREAT - broke passing the 200 metres and failed to settle for the remainder of the race. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
MADRIK - broke passing the 1600 metres losing all chance.
MR OLYMPUS - trotted roughly when held up rounding the final bend.
MISS BAMBOOCHA - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
Race 5   GEOFF & JUDY KNIGHT / SOUTHERN CRUTCHING MOBILE PACE
JABALI - junior driver T Larsen was spoken to advisedly for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion.
TOUCHE - held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the run home.
ROBYNS SHADOW - raced wide until near the 1200 metres.
VINTAGE ROSE - lay inwards in the score-up and was out of position at the start despite the efforts of junior driver M Hurrell. Continued to lay inwards throughout the race proving a difficult drive. M Hurrell was spoken to advisedly for using the whip with more than a wrist flicking motion.
OHOKA BANDIT - weakened from the 600 metres finishing in a distant last placing. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.
JACKS N JAZZ - held up rounding the final bend.
PRODIGAL PETE - raced wide in the early stages. Briefly placed in tight quarters near the 600 metres.
Race 6   KUBALA SEEDS GORE MOBILE PACE
MR MCLAREN - trainer K Larsen was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 when presenting this runner without the notified blinds. Paced roughly passing the 1200 metres. Briefly locked sulky wheels with NGAROMA near the 900 metres.
SHERWOOD MAGGIE - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 3.04pm. Connections were advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare racing next.
NGAROMA - over-raced on various occasions during the running. Lay outwards on the bend near the 900 metres briefly locking sulky wheels with MR MCLAREN.
INSARCHATWIST - over-raced in the score-up. Paced roughly near the 1400 metres. Held up rounding the final bend.
RAGAZZO MACH - raced wide rounding the first bend. Driver N Williamson reported he did not release the removable deafeners applied to the colt due to having the field covered.
PORT AU PRINCE - driver P Hunter was spoken to advisedly for using the whip with more than a wrist flicking motion.
Race 7   ULTIMATE MACHETE AT ALABAR HANDICAP PACE
I'M TROUBLE - weakened from the 500 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a poor recovery and showing signs of a possible upper respiratory infection. Stewards will follow up with trainer O Lawrence in the coming days. Stewards spoke with driver and stable representative R McIlwrick in relation to a number of gear changes to the gelding which had won its previous two starts. After speaking with Mr McIlwrick Stewards adjourned the matter to make further investigations in the coming days.
MIGHTY FLYING ART - broke at the start. Weakened from the 400 metres.
MEMPHIS TENNESSEE - trainer T Chmiel was issued with a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 when presenting this runner with Sliding Blinds which were not notified.
HILARIOUS PRINCE - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
PEMBROOK PLAYBOY - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
Stewards have concluded their investigation into the reasons as to why multiple notifiable gear changes were made to the gelding I'M TROUBLE after two consecutive wins. Stewards spoke with Driver R McIlwrick, Trainer O Lawrence and Part-Owner C Graham. After hearing their explanations, Stewards deemed that the changes were not unreasonable in this instance and took the matter no further.
Race 8   REGENT CAR COURT/CADUCEUS CLUB NUGGET FINAL MOBILE PACE
SENTRY - paced roughly in the score-up and through the early stages. Continued to pace roughly for a distance passing the 1300 metres.
RACING MINISTER - raced wide rounding the first bend.
R K FINN - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1450 metres.
DON COYOTE - held up rounding the final bend and was unable to obtain clear racing room until the middle stages of the home straight. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted inside the final 800 metres when shifting inwards to race against the pylons driver B Barclay explained that his runner was not able to work during its races and so was reliant on another horse taking him forward. He added that IN CHEVRON WE TRUST had attempted to improve wide near the 700 metres but did not gain ground initially and so he felt his horse was better suited to looking for gaps amongst tiring runners than having to improve extremely wide on the bend and without cover. His comments were noted.
FLEETMASTER - over-raced through the middle stages. Held up rounding the final bend.
Race 9   PGG WRIGHTSON LIVESTOCK HANDICAP TROT
SHE'S ALLTHE CRAZE - slow to begin. Weakened rounding the final bend.
JIMMY CARTER - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 8.23am. Connections were advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare racing next.
SUNDONS FLYER - driver M Williamson was spoken to advisedly for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion.
CHINESE WHISPER - driver N Williamson reported he did not release the removable deafeners applied to the gelding.
Race 10   GJ GARDNER HOMES MOBILE PACE
ONESMARTFELLA - driver N Williamson will be spoken to in the coming days regarding the manner he used his whip over the concluding stages when not with a wrist flicking motion.
LITE PERCUSSION - locked sulky wheels shortly after the start with BETTER GALLEON.
BETTER GALLEON - locked sulky wheels shortly after the start with LITE PERCUSSION.
TOBY O'GARA - driver J Cox was spoken to advisedly for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion.
JODY DIREEN - held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight and as a consequence driver B Orange did not release the Removable Deafeners or activate the Sliding Blinds applied to the mare.
IVANA LEGACY - driver A Armour will be spoken to in the coming days regarding the manner he used his whip early in the home straight when not with a wrist flicking motion.
