Race 1   McMILLANS EQUINE FEEDS NZ JUNIOR DRIVERS (HEAT 4) MOB PACE
CHEDDAR MADE BETA - had to be steadied in the early stages when briefly crowded for racing room. Over-raced when being eased near the 800 metres. Driver N Delany advised the deafeners could not be released due to the cord becoming entangled.
DONEGAL GILBERT - trainer B Hill was issued with a warning for presenting the gelding without the notified blinds with this gear being applied prior to the start.
ANAMAJOR - driver L Whittaker was shown the films with regard to the manner in which he shifted inwards after the start which briefly caused CHEDDAR MADE BETA to be crowded. The towel under the driver's seat came adrift in the home straight. Mr Whittaker explained that the towel had been taped down and had worked loose during the running. He was advised that in future if he requires a towel, he must ensure it is securely attached so as not to come adrift.
GUIDO DA SIENA - had to be restrained shortly after the start when runners ahead eased. Raced fiercely through the early and middle stages. Raced wide from the 900 metres. Weakened final bend. Driver M Hurrell advised the gelding had been striking the sulky wheels causing it to over-race and he had not released the deafeners.
Race 2   SPECTATORS BAR & BISTRO TROT
AWESOME IMPEE - broke after 100 metres. Received veterinary treatment following the race for a minor cut on the coronary band.
GOTTA TICKET - broke at the 850 metres losing its chance.
HALFWAY THERE - broke at the 1100 metres losing its chance.
SHES SO RIGHT - weakened on the final bend.
YEA YOU - broke briefly shortly after the start.
CHAROLAIS - trotted awkwardly through the early stages. Broke near the 2200 metres.
THANK YOU - broke when pressured to improve forward and vie for the lead near the 850 metres losing its chance.
THE ARTFUL DODGER - began awkwardly. Broke near the 2200 metres losing ground. Again broke near the 1300 metres.
EILISH HALL - trotted roughly in the final straight and was not able to be fully pressured by driver J Curtin.
SHEZA MIGHTY MONARCH - broke after 50 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
Race 3   AVON CITY FORD MOBILE PACE
MRS WASHINGTON - held up on the final bend having to shift wider to obtain clear running.
KING ARTHUR - driver J Gray advised he was unable to release the deafeners due to the cord breaking.
MIDNIGHT IN MEMPHIS - inconvenienced near the 1900 metres having to be steadied for several strides. Paced roughly in the final straight.
MATHILDA - shifted outwards near the 1900 metres but then raced roughly losing momentum and hampering a trailing runner.
KEY REACTOR - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to the back of the field. Continued to over-race through the middle stages. Raced wide from the 1300 metres. Weakened from the 700 metres and was distanced over the final stages. Driver P Davis reported the gelding had been striking the sulky wheels causing it to over-race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
AVEROSS SPITFIRE - lay inwards on the first bend and dislodged track markers.
Race 4   McMILLANS EQUINE FEEDS NZ JUNIOR DRIVERS (HEAT 5) MOB PACE
LOISSONYA - weakened at the 600 metres.
DIAMOND EDITION - broke in the score up losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
FRANCO SHERBORNE - driver L Whittaker was spoken to advisedly to ensure he maintains a straight course through to the finishing line.
WOMAN IN CHARGE - weakened at the 400 metres.
SONIC REIGN - raced wide in the early stages. Driver N Delany was spoken to regarding the manner he attempted to ease runners inwards shortly after the start when not having a clear advantage.
CRACKABRIE - paced roughly on the final bend and when activating gear becoming awkwardly positioned behind EASTWOOD ISABELLA and then broke.
EASTWOOD ISABELLA - driver D Ferguson advised the deafeners were not released.
ALEXY - Stewards spoke to driver K Tomlinson after observing her left foot coming out of the sulky footrest briefly near the 500 metres. Miss Tomlinson (assisted by M Williamson) said that she was not driving in her usual sulky and her foot had unintentionally slipped out with Stewards accepting her explanation.
Race 5   FAHEY FENCE HIRE PACE
MUSTANG GT - broke at the start.
DONEGAL CARNBOUY - broke at the start.
MAGGIE - began awkwardly.
JENABELLA - tangled at the start.
ESSENCE OF EASTON - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
CHA CHA B - broke at the start losing its chance.
Race 6   McMILLANS EQUINE FEEDS NZ JUNIOR DRIVERS (HEAT 6) TROT
CABELLA NOIR - weakened near the 600 metres.
ROGIE FALLS - trotted roughly for a few strides after the start. Broke on the final bend.
TAKE AFTER ME - began awkwardly.
RACHMANINOV - broke briefly at the start.
LISA MARIE P - weakened near the 600 metres.
ESCARGO - weakened on the bend near the 400 metres. When spoken to regarding the performance, trainer K Townley advised the mare may be suffering from muscle tie up and it was his intention to have blood tests taken in the coming days. Stewards will follow up the results with Mr Townley.
SODS LAW - broke when pressuring for the lead near the 1900 metres. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the final straight.
ALVIRA HEST - broke near the 2000 metres losing its chance. Driver M Hurrell reported the mare to have hung throughout.
WITH ICE - broke near the 2000 metres. Again broke near the 1100 metres.
Trainer K Townley advised Stewards on 29 July that blood tests taken from ESCARGO confirmed that the mare was suffering from muscle tie up with this now being treated.
Race 7   TRACKSIDE DINING AT ADDINGTON PACE
MEGAROCK - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the final straight.
BELMONT BETTY - held up in the early stages of the run home when runners either side shifted ground.
FOREGONE CONCLUSION - paced roughly soon after the start. Driver J Cox was spoken to about the manner in which he allowed his horse to shift in on the turn when not sufficiently clear of BOLZANO. Mr Cox said his horse was hanging however he was reminded of his obligations when shifting inwards.
BOLZANO - briefly locked wheels with SUPREME LINCOLN at the entrance to the final straight.
SUPREME LINCOLN - over-raced middle stages. Briefly locked wheels with BOLZANO at the entrance to the final straight.
ASHES TO ASHES - shifted in shortly after the start having to be corrected by driver R May.
Race 8   BLUE STAR TAXIS MOBILE PACE
ADMIRABLE - hung throughout and continued to lay outwards in the final straight. Co-trainer N Purdon said he was disappointed with the gelding's performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
SHEELASINLEAGUE - well back from its position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Tomlinson. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Weakened at the 400 metres.
MAURICE - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to the rear.
PAUL'S VERDICT - raced roughly in the early stages when being restrained.
MADAME FROST - held up in the middle stages of the run home.
THE FALCON - when spoken to regarding the colt's performance, trainer G Dunn advised the horse would benefit from today's run and an increased workload in the coming week.
Co-trainer N Purdon advised Stewards on 29 July that ADMIRABLE has been sent for a spell.
Trainer G Dunn advised that THE FALCON has been gelded since last racing.
