Race 1   THE SAUCY CHEF MOBILE PACE
MISS IVY - out of position at the start despite the efforts of junior driver E Barron. Held up in the early stages of the home straight, having to shift ground outwards passing the 200 metres to find clear racing room.
KIWI JEWEL - raced wide into the first bend until reaching the parked position near the 1400 metres.
HAYDEN BROMAC - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Larsen. Raced three-wide without cover from the 1000 metres.
THE NAENAE EXPRESS - lay inwards on the final bend contacting track markers.
Race 2   EASTERN SUBURBS TROT
FUNKY MONKEY - briefly held up rounding the final bend. Trotted roughly leaving the final bend with driver P Williamson reporting that due to this he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
BRANDY AND DRY - broke shortly after the start. Lay inwards entering the home straight having to be corrected by junior driver T Larsen.
CODY BANNER - trotted roughly and broke rounding the final bend and continued in a break over the concluding stages.
ROBO TROUBLE - broke briefly shortly after the start.
LOVE N THE PORT - raced wide when improving passing the 600 metres. Driver M Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding due to having the field covered.
SPRINGBANK MASON - trotted roughly over the latter stages of the race with driver B Williamson being unable to fully drive the gelding out.
WHANGAMATA - lay inwards rounding the bends contacting track markers. Held up for racing room by breaking runners over the final 200 metres.
JAY BEE AND LOU - lay inwards entering the first bend. Raced wide in the early stages.
IT'S SUMMERTIME - raced three-wide without cover for the first 800 metres. Trotted roughly rounding the final bend. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 200 metres.
Race 3   BALMORAL MOTOR LODGE MOBILE PACE
MAN I'M GOOD - raced wide into the first bend. Shifted ground outwards near the 50 metres severely checking TAD LINCOLN and having to be straightened by driver A Kyle. Mr Kyle admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly at this stage of the race. After viewing replays and hearing penalty submissions the JCA imposed a suspension of Mr Kyle's licence to drive from the 3rd of July up to and including the 23rd of July (3 days).
IT'S ME - placed in restricted room rounding the first bend.
KAGEE VC - held up by a tiring runner rounding the final bend.
MIGHTY GEORGE - lay inwards over the concluding stages when under pressure.
LADY'S LASS - lay inwards rounding the first bend placing inside runner in restricted room. Raced wide in the early stages. Weakened rounding the final bend.
LAST HARAH - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to take cover.
COOLHAND EASTON - driver B Norman drove with his foot removed from the sulky footrest for a distance in the home straight. B Norman admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and Whip Regs (k) in that he struck his horse with the whip while his foot was removed from the sulky footrest. After viewing replays and hearing penalty submissions the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
TAD LINCOLN - crowded and had to be severely restrained passing the 50 metres when MAN I'M GOOD shifted ground outwards under pressure.
TETRICK - briefly placed in restricted room over the concluding stages.
ELLNBAC - held up by a tiring runner rounding the final bend.
Race 4   SOUTHERN STANDARDBRED BREEDERS ASSOCIATION MOBILE PACE
MAJOR MENACE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of junior driver E Barron.
BETTER GALLEON - improved wide from the 800 metres.
OLIVE COOK - junior driver M Hurrell replaced junior driver S Tomlinson. Raced wide through the middle stages.
Race 5   ROBIN DUNDEE CLUB FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
BETTERTHANRAZA - shifted down the track in the middle stages of the home straight when under pressure.
HOPEFUL - weakened rounding the final bend.
MATAI CHARLOTTE - broke in the score-up losing all chance and being retired from the event. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
SHADZEE - shied and hung outwards in the score-up being well out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Paced roughly on various occasions during the running.
INSARCHATWIST - hampered by a tiring runner rounding the final bend.
PRETTY AZZ - hampered by a tiring runner rounding the final bend.
TRES CHIC - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 10.23am.
Race 6   CADUCEUS CLUB OF SOUTHLAND MOBILE PACE
LA LA LAND - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Authorisation of 3rd placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
Starter N Popham was shown the films and spoken to advisedly regarding the speed of the mobile.
Race 7   SOUTHLAND VEHICLE SALES MOBILE PACE
TARGARYEN - broke leaving the first bend resulting in the off hind hopple breaking and the gelding locking wheels with HAZER and several trailing runners being hampered in consequence. The gelding was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the racing manners of the gelding.
MAJOR DEAL - when questioned regarding the performance junior driver E Barron could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with trainer C Barron in the coming days.
THE NIGHT WATCHMAN - raced wide and over-raced when being restrained to the rear of the field to obtain cover passing the 1300 metres.
DALLAS GRIMES - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1800 metres.
PETE'S DASH - the Boring Pole was removed prior to the start due to it breaking. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1800 metres. Held up rounding the final bend.
HAZER - over-raced in the score-up. Badly hampered leaving the first bend when locking wheels with a breaking runner. Held up rounding the final bend.
IDEAL GLACIER - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1800 metres.
VIN SCULLY - improved four-wide from the 1800 metres to assume the lead near the 1500 metres.
ROBYNS SHADOW - raced wide in the early stages.
Trainer C Barron advised Stewards on 8 July that MAJOR DEAL has been retired from racing.
Race 8   THE NORTHERN TAVERN TROT
ALPINE RETREAT - broke near the 2200 metres losing ground with the gelding being retired from the event.
KING OF THE NORTH - trainer K Larsen was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 when presenting this runner with an anti-choke device which was not notified. Reared and shifted sideways prior to the dispatch checking several runners and necessitating a false start be declared. Sent to the Unruly position for the restart where the gelding will now be drawn for upcoming standing start engagements. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Broke shortly after the start of the restart.
MISS JESSICA - hung outwards racing into the bend near the 1500 metres then broke hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing manners of the mare.
SMUDGEE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres and broke in consequence, losing its chance and being pulled up.
RICHARD THE THIRD - driver B Barclay reported he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding due to having the field covered.
MAUDARCHY - lay inwards leaving the final bend contacting several track markers.
RUBY SEDDON - trotted roughly over the concluding stages with driver N Williamson reporting that due to this he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the mare.
SVELT - pre-race warmed. Briefly hampered by a breaking runner passing the 2100 metres.
MATAI JETSTAR - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1500 metres. Weakened from the 600 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with trainer A Milne in the coming days.
DAY DREAMIN - broke racing into the first bend losing its chance and eventually being pulled up by driver B Williamson.
Trainer A Milne advised Stewards on 8 July that MATAI JETSTAR recovered well from last week's run and could offer no explanation for the effort.
Race 9   SOUTHLAND FARM MACHINERY MOBILE PACE
BUCK - weakened rounding the final bend.
FRANCO JUNE - under pressure from the 700 metres.
THE MAROON MARAUDER - out of position at the start.
Following the running of this event the official track conditions were upgraded to Easy.
Race 10   SELLING? CALL CRAIG AT HARCOURTS MOBILE PACE
KOENIGSEGG - broke briefly in the score-up however recovered to take up its allotted barrier position at the dispatch.
MACH'S BACK - raced wide into the first bend prior to being taken forward to the parked position passing the 1600 metres.
ROCKNROLL KING - held up over the concluding stages with driver S Ottley reporting that due to this she did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding.
DEUS EX - paced roughly passing the 1000 metres.
Race 11   WINTON MITRE 10 HANDICAP TROT
COUNT EYRE - weakened rounding the final bend.
ZONED SCARLETT - broke racing into the first bend. Over-raced on various occasions during the running.
CRUSHER COLLINS - shifted backwards after the tapes were released and refused to trot away with the body of the field. Stood down to trial from a standing start to the Stewards satisfaction on 2 occasions prior to racing next.
CHINESE WHISPER - broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
ULTIMATE STRIDE - driver M Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding due to having the field covered.
GERSHWIN - broke briefly passing the 1600 metres.
HUMBLE LADD - held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
