Race Comments

Race 1   ASTRA STU & JEAN MOBILE TROT

TEASE MY TARTAN - weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance junior driver T Larsen advised that in his opinion the gelding was unsuited by the mobile start.
WHANGAMATA - raced lethargically inside the final 1200 metres.
RUBY SEDDON - lay inwards near the 1200 metres striking track markers. Driver N Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the mare due to having the field covered.
STAY ABOARD - broke racing into the first bend losing it's chance.
ROBO TROUBLE - unable to fully take up its allotted barrier position because of REGAL GLIDE and so was slightly back at the start. The all clear was delayed by Stewards until the connections and the starter had been spoken to, after which it was determined the chances of ROBO TROUBLE had not been materially prejudiced and so no further action was taken.
IT'S SUMMERTIME - broke passing the 200 metres when in a prominent position. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
Race 2   NIP CROOKS MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
WEE RING THE CHANGES - raced wide in the early stages.
NIGHTMARCH - received a punctured sulky tyre near the 150 metres when contacted by MAN I'M GOOD.
FATHERDANTHERODEOMAN - raced wide in the early stages.
MAN I'M GOOD - raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up rounding the final bend. Raced keenly again near the 150 metres when the sliding blinds were activated and shifted inwards abruptly, striking the sulky wheel of NIGHTMARCH and breaking briefly in consequence.
ROSINUPTHEBOW - raced wide and without cover from the 800 metres.
LUCYS DELIGHT - raced wide from the 800 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver B McLellan advised the mare had worked hard early and raced wide over the latter stages with this having taken its toll.
FRANCO JUNE - held up throughout the run home.
Race 3   NEVILLE CRONIN MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
CELEBRATING - attempted to kick out in the early stages of the score-up, getting the sulky shaft over its back and causing damage to the cart which had to be replaced, resulting in a delay to the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke soon after the start losing it's chance. Driver M Williamson advised he would be recommending gear changes be made prior to the gelding racing next.
ONEDIN HURRICANE - lay inwards over the final stages. When spoken to regarding the improved performance the connections explained the gelding had been able to take advantage of an economical run throughout today and that they had been confident of a more forward showing.
THE BIG YIN - out of position at the start. Driver B Barclay was issued with a warning. Raced wide in the middle stages.
OLD LUKE - well back from the Unruly position at the start. Lost contact with the field on occasions from the 1300 metres.

MIGHTY GEORGE - held up throughout the run home with junior driver E Barron advising that due to this she did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding. Stewards questioned Miss Barron as to why she had not shifted outwards near the 500 metres to ensure clear running. Miss Barron advised her gelding was flat at the time and for this reason she was reluctant to come out which would have meant racing wide round the final bend. Miss Barron added she was expecting AIRWAVES to give her a cart into the race as in her opinion it was travelling well at the time, however this did not eventuate resulting in her becoming held up.
CHAMPERS - held up in the run home. Driver B McLellan was questioned as to why he elected not to improve outwards near the 600 metres when the opportunity presented to ensure clear running.
