ANNIE RICHTER - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home. Stewards questioned driver R Close regarding his reason for not utilising the passing lane in the home straight. Mr Close explained the filly had been hanging throughout the race and he believed that to attempt to shift into the passing lane was not in the horse's best interests. He also said he felt RIDE IN A CONCORDE was under some pressure to his outside and he would be able to shift that runner outwards by gaining an advantage however this had not eventuated so his only option was to take his filly inwards in search of clear running. This had taken Mr Close a considerable distance to achieve and even when presented with a clear run said his filly was still reluctant to improve on the inside. After reviewing the films and considering his explanation Stewards took the matter no further.
DOUBT I'M DREAMING - weakened final bend.
