Driver R Close (SAM'S TOWN) admitted a breach of Rule 869(4) in that he drove in a manner likely to cause interference when jostling for a position with SILK (R Holmes) in the early stages of the home straight. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $250.

HANDSOME HARRY - cast a front shoe in the preliminary with the other front shoe being removed prior to the start. Broke shortly after the start.

WESTBURN VISTA - the connections advised the mare would race without front shoes. Tangled away. Broke after 250 metres checking trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Weakened from the 600 metres.
PRODIGAL PETE - broke at the start. Checked and broke after 250 metres.
SA FACT - fractious prior to the start and was back slightly as the start was effected. Checked after 250 metres.
BONNY'S GEM - checked after 250 metres. Over raced middle stages. Junior Driver A Cameron (assisted by M Purvis) was cautioned for her lack of control when allowing her runner to shift outwards leaving the final bend.
SAMARIAS MACH - broke at the start. Checked and broke after 250 metres. Paced roughly near the 900 metres when racing over the crossing.
FERNLEIGH COLLEEN - late scratching prior to the start on Veterinary advice. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.
NIZZARDA FRANCO - paced roughly at various stages through the race. Driver C Thornley advised that due to this he elected not to activate the hopple shorteners on the mare.
STAR WATCH - checked at the start. Checked again after 250 metres.
LOISSONYA - had difficulty in obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight.

GOOSE HEALY - trotted roughly through the early stages. Over raced middle stages. Broke final bend after being hampered by a breaking runner.
MAKURA - broke at the start. Broke again near the 350 metres.
BUILD A BRIDGE - fractious prior to the start. Broke in the early stages. Broke again near the 600 metres. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of Co-Trainer J Geddes.
PEAK AGAIN - broke at the start losing all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of Trainer W Higgs.
LITTLE MISS - trotted roughly rounding the first bend.
EILISH HALL - broke shortly after the start. Broke again rounding the first bend losing all chance.
TEQUILA SUNSET - hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages. Trotted roughly throughout. Weakened from the 700 metres. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
MY EYRE - broke after 100 metres when hampered by a breaking runner. Again hampered rounding the final bend by a breaking runner. Driver P Davis reported the gelding had cast the off front shoe during the running.
DD'S SUPER STUART - broke after 100 metres.
Race 4   FRESH CHOICE MOBILE PACE
CONQUISTADOR - checked and broke in the score up at the first attempt. Broke in the score up at the second attempt. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Over raced passing the 1500 metres and broke after a slight easing of the pace. Weakened final bend.
MOSSMAN - broke in the early stages of the score up checking CONQUISTADOR resulting in a false start being declared. Driver B Orange elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the colt. Paced roughly in the early stages before breaking racing into the first bend losing considerable ground.
DIXIE REIGN - held up final bend.
MOCHA - out of position at the start. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Trainer/Driver C Thornley advised he would be making gear changes prior to its next start. Weakened final bend.
TAUMALOLO - reared and briefly fell to the track at the assembly area prior to the restart with a Veterinary examination clearing the gelding to race.
Race 5   VALSPAR CHANGE MADE EASY MOBILE PACE
SWISH - paced roughly racing into the first bend and hung inwards striking pylons. Weakened passing the 1000 metres. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
WILLACHY - when spoken to regarding the performance Driver B Laughton advised the gelding had hung outwards from the 800 metres and had been disappointing.
JUST A SMILE - hung inwards racing into the first bend striking pylons. Again hung inwards near the 1100 metres striking pylons. Weakened final bend.
SHEZSOMETHINSPECIAL - over raced middle stages. Driver J Curtin was cautioned for forcing a runner wider on the track near the 1600 metres.
REINIMIN PATRON - paced roughly and weakened final bend. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver G Smith reported that in his opinion the gelding may have failed to back up from the first day. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
EVER SO BETTOR - locked wheels with RAZORS EDGE for a short distance passing the 1200 metres. Driver B Hope was cautioned for forcing a runner wider on the track near the 1600 metres.
FIXED ODDS - forced wider on the track final bend losing ground. Driver P Davis admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
BETANCOURT - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Broke again racing into the first bend losing all chance.
RAZORS EDGE - hung inwards through the straight with a lap to race and locked wheels with EVER SO BETTOR for a short distance passing the 1200 metres.
Race 6   SIKA MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared due to the mobile barrier decreasing speed late in the score up hampering several runners. Starter R Donnelly was spoken to advisedly.
DONEGAL CARNBOUY - weakened final bend.
OPAWA MACH - weakened final bend.
FORTUNE TILLER - over-raced early stages. Weakened from the 700 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
BUSH MAN - Driver G Smith reported he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
MALINKA - ran inwards abruptly entering the home straight and had to be corrected by Driver J Curtin.
MACHS MARETA - held up final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
FUN IN THE DARK - paced roughly at the 1200 metres. Held up final bend.
SILENT RAPTURE - over-raced early stages. Held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
BOSSMARO - over-raced through the early and middle stages. Made contact with the sulky wheel of FUN IN THE DARK passing the 1700 metres when over-racing despite the efforts of Driver B Orange. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Weakened from the 700 metres after improving wide on the track. Driver B Orange advised that in his opinion the gelding had failed to back up from the first day.
Race 7   FULLER HAND TOOLS PACE
OMAR SHARIF - hung inwards through the early stages. Held up final bend.
PINE CONE - held up final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
GARRY'S LEGACY - raced greenly and eased the speed passing the 1200 metres when leading and hung outwards despite the efforts of driver G Smith. Held up final bend.
JUNGLE GEM - weakened leaving the final bend. Driver B Borcoskie was questioned regarding the tactics he adopted in the early and middle stages when racing in the parked position. Mr Borcoskie explained that he had attempted to obtain the lead in the early stages when applying pressure to GARRY'S LEGACY, however once unable to do so he elected to restrain his runner passing the 1500 metres in an attempt to obtain cover. Mr Borcoskie added that he then became aware that GARRY'S LEGACY started to race greenly and ease the speed noticeably so he elected to again drive his runner forward. After considering the submissions of Mr Borcoskie, Stewards were satisfied that his actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.
OLDE OAK EMMA - broke at the start.
TOMBELINA - Driver S McMullan admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
DANA DAWN - raced wide early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field.
Race 8   CALTEX WESTPORT HANDICAP PACE
FYNN FROST - began awkwardly. Briefly hampered late in the run home when an inside runner shifted outwards.
VINNIE RULZ - cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
TANGO TARA - lay outwards over the concluding stages.
STARS TONIGHT - paced roughly racing into the first bend. Again paced roughly in the home straight and shifted outwards having to be steadied.
Race 9   BERNIE STEWART MEMORIAL PACE
QUEENOFDANCE - shifted outwards at the start.
IDEAL RULE - crowded at the start locking sulky stays with PRECIOUS SARA. Held up final bend.
PRECIOUS SARA - broke at the start locking sulky stays with IDEAL RULE. Weakened final bend.
BEEN TO JENNY'S - tangled away. Weakened final bend.
GOD ONLY KNOWS - hung outwards in the home straight.
MARTIN JOHN - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke near the 900 metres when racing over the crossing. Weakened leaving the final bend. Driver B Orange reported that the gelding had broken after hanging inwards.
MISS DAYTONA - briefly crowded near the 150 metres by an inside runner.
MUSTANG GT - broke at the start. Broke near the 900 metres when racing over the crossing.
TERRIER - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up final bend.
Race 10   COSMOPOLITAN HOTEL HANDICAP TROT
BRIGHT GLOW - raced inside track markers near the 300 metres and improved its position to the inside of MAJESTIC ACTION. Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 869(7B) alleging that BRIGHT GLOW (I Cameron) had gained an advantage on the final bend when its sulky protruded inside the marker line. After viewing the replays and hearing from Stewards and Mr Cameron, the JCA upheld the protest and BRIGHT GLOW was disqualified from 4th placing. Driver I Cameron admitted a breach of Rule 869(7A)(a)(b) in that he allowed his sulky to shift inside the marker line with the JCA suspending his licence from the conclusion of racing on 30 December up to and including 10 January 2020 (3 days).
MIKEMARO - broke at the start losing all chance.
FOREIGNER - held up by a weakening runner final bend. Shifted outwards near the 350 metres simultaneous to BAXTER shifting inwards resulting in BAXTER being crowded for a short distance. Driver C Thornley was shown a replay and spoken to advisedly.
YOUNG STRANGER - was a late scratching prior to the start on Veterinary advice. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.
MISS MOPPET - trotted roughly rounding the first bend after contacting the sulky wheel of BRIGHT GLOW. Driver A Cameron will be spoken to regarding this in the coming days. Over raced middle stages. Trotted roughly and broke near the 450 metres. Continued to trot roughly in the run home.
MAJESTIC ACTION - weakened final bend.
NEVER MIND - shifted outwards in the home straight when leading. Driver G Smith was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.
MICHELLE - trotted roughly early stages. Hampered by a breaking runner after 150 metres and broke losing all chance.
SHE'S SO COOL - pre-race warmed. Broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
RUM IN THE SUN - hampered by a breaking runner after 100 metres.
BAXTER - hampered by a breaking runner after 100 metres. Held up by a weakening runner passing the 600 metres. Crowded near the 350 metres after shifting inwards simultaneous to FOREIGNER shifting outwards. Junior Driver B Hope was shown a replay and spoken to advisedly. Trotted roughly in the home straight.
