COMIC BOOK HERO - when questioned in regards to the improved performance of the winner, trainer R Darby stated that the gelding was unlucky at Auckland last week adding that in view of its good grass track performances the extra distance of tonight's race suited the horse. | |

YOUNG CONQUEROR - raced three wide briefly passing the 1800m after THE LONE RANGER shifted away from the marker line. It was established that Driver B Butcher (THE LONE RANGER) had commenced his outward movement prior to YOUNG CONQUEROR covering his wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. Obliged to remain three wide shortly after when PARKER shifted away from the marker line. |

MASSIVE METRO - locked wheels briefly with GERSHWIN approaching the 200m when racing to the inside of TEMPORALE which hung in, and lost some momentum. Trotted roughly over concluding stages. | |
TEMPORALE - hung in placing MASSIVE METRO in restricted room approaching the 200m. | |
LEMOND - the required Veterinary Clearance was received. Broke rounding the first bend. Broke again at the 2000m. Retired from the race at the 1400m. A post race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to a fetlock. Stewards will follow up with the recovery of the gelding with trainer R Paynter in the coming days. |

When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer K Marshall advised that the mare had been required to work during the running at its previous start and attributed the improved performance to a change in the training regime when being worked in the saddle with a view to upcoming Monte races. | |
PRETORIUS - stood on the mark and was slow away. | |
SUPERFAST NINJA - broke a the start losing considerable ground. | |
OUR SPITFIRE - broke racing into the first bend losing its chance. | |
