Trainer D Gale advised Stewards on 5 November that AMERICAN ME has been treated for a virus since last racing.

Trainer PBlanchard advised Stewards on 5 November that veterinary tests carried out on MATAI GEORDIE revealed no abnormalities with the gelding continuing with its current preparation.

Race 1   MELBOURNE CUP DAY 2 MILE HANDICAP PACE
COMIC BOOK HERO - when questioned in regards to the improved performance of the winner, trainer R Darby stated that the gelding was unlucky at Auckland last week adding that in view of its good grass track performances the extra distance of tonight's race suited the horse.
THE LONE RANGER - paced roughly entering the first turn losing ground.
FLEETING GRIN - broke briefly at the start. Held up in the early stages of the run home.
LINCOLN MOMENT - over-raced through the middle stages.
PARKER - swung outwards at the start.
BETTOR SENSATION - broke at the start losing its chance.
YOUNG CONQUEROR - raced three wide briefly passing the 1800m after THE LONE RANGER shifted away from the marker line. It was established that Driver B Butcher (THE LONE RANGER) had commenced his outward movement prior to YOUNG CONQUEROR covering his wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. Obliged to remain three wide shortly after when PARKER shifted away from the marker line.
Race 2   BLACK DOG FURNITURE MOBILE PACE
SUPER ACTOR - broke in the initial stages of the score up but was in position at dispatch. Lay in rounding the bends. Raced in restricted room approaching the 800m. Held up early final turn.
SECRET DEAL - Driver B Butcher was cautioned for the manner in which he attempted to shift ground down onto the leader's back passing the 800m which placed an inside runner in restricted room.
FORWARDY - pulled hard early when being restrained.
SHANROAD - lost contact with the body of the field at the 1000m when the pace increased. Raced greenly in the run home.
Race 3   gavelhouse.com MOBILE PACE
LINDI LINCOLN - weakened run home.
SIMON - raced wide into the first bend.
RUNCLE - broke at the start losing its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier record.
DOUBLE OR NOTHING - raced wide into the first bend.
CHARLOTTE ROYAL - shuffled four back on the marker line early from its second row draw. Held up early final turn.
Race 4   MELBOURNE CUP DAY 2 MILE HANDICAP TROT
GERSHWIN - locked wheels briefly with MASSIVE METRO approaching the 200m.
MASSIVE METRO - locked wheels briefly with GERSHWIN approaching the 200m when racing to the inside of TEMPORALE which hung in, and lost some momentum. Trotted roughly over concluding stages.
TEMPORALE - hung in placing MASSIVE METRO in restricted room approaching the 200m.
LEMOND - the required Veterinary Clearance was received. Broke rounding the first bend. Broke again at the 2000m. Retired from the race at the 1400m. A post race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to a fetlock. Stewards will follow up with the recovery of the gelding with trainer R Paynter in the coming days.
Race 5   MARSH EQUINE & LIVESTOCK INSURANCE HANDICAP TROT
CREAMEE - broke at the start.
LUKYANOVA - hung inwards in the run home. When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer K Marshall advised that the mare had been required to work during the running at its previous start and attributed the improved performance to a change in the training regime when being worked in the saddle with a view to upcoming Monte races.
PRETORIUS - stood on the mark and was slow away.
SUPERFAST NINJA - broke a the start losing considerable ground.
OUR SPITFIRE - broke racing into the first bend losing its chance.
AORAKI - trotted roughly on the home turn.
TOBRUK - broke passing the 800m losing its chance.
TAKENOPRISONERS - trotted roughly shortly after the start.
AS FREE AS AIR - broke at the start losing its chance.
Race 6   PGG WRIGHTSON STANDARDBRED MOBILE PACE
BETTOR GET IT ON - held up final turn.
KOLOVOS - held up final turn.
NEW FRONTIER - weakened final turn.
BLAKE - broke briefly passing the 100m.
EIGHTEEN CARAT - held up early final turn.
Race 7   FARMLANDS MOBILE PACE
LADY SANTANNA - held up late in the run home.
BETTOR TRENZ - when questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer A Drake advised the gelding had performed well at its previous start after the addition of a Pacifier and tonight had been able to set its own terms in front throughout.
ALLONBLACK - Driver N Chilcott advised that the Murphy blind had come partially adrift after contacting the mobile in the score up.
ARTY PHARTY - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
MAJOR BLINK - over-raced from the middle stages. Held up throughout the home straight.
Race 8   FAMILY DAY AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY DEC 24 HANDICAP TROT
BATTLE COMMANDER - held up for clear racing room in the run home.
BULLER WHITEBAIT - broke racing into the first bend. Over-raced in the middle stages when in the parked out position. Broke under pressure just prior to the line.
MONSINEE - broke passing the 1950m.
THE LAST GAMBLE - broke at the start.
FLYING TAINE - tended to sky its head on numerous occasions during the running. Driver N Chilcott advised the gelding had locked on one rein rounding the final bend placing her at a disadvantage and as a result was held up early in the run home.
