HAYDEN'S MEDDLE was listed as a scratching in Race 1 for approximately three hours on Tuesday afternoon due to the connections receiving incorrect veterinary advice prior to being reinstated pursuant to Rule 834(7) with the permission of the Chairman of Harness Racing NZ.

Co-Trainer C Butt advised Stewards on 29 September that MARIA TSARINA has recovered well following its run at Addington last Friday. Mrs Butt added that in her opinion the mare had not backed up from racing at Oamaru 5 days earlier and in future will have longer spaces between engagements.
Trainer K Townley advised Stewards on 2 October that ESCARGO was found to have been suffering from a lung infection after racing at Addington last Friday and is now being treated.

The connections of SILK advised Stewards on 2 October that the mare has been sent for a spell.

Race 1   CHRISTCHURCH CASINO CELEBRATING 25 YEARS MOBILE PACE
J B MAUNEY - checked near the 150 metres.
STUN GUN - hung outwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. Over-raced through the middle stages.
JAZZY STAR - held up on the final turn and in the initial stages of the run home. Broke near the 150 metres and fell after shifting down into the infield with driver S McNally being dislodged. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small abrasion to the left carpus. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming. Mr McNally was examined by St John personnel and cleared to fulfill his remaining driving engagements.
HAYDEN'S MEDDLE - held up on the final turn.
IVANA FLYBYE - despite the efforts of driver B Butcher, the mare was unable to hold her barrier position until the start point. Lay inwards on the final turn near the 400 metres.
Race 2   DUNSTAN HORSE FEEDS MET MEGA SERIES HANDICAP PACE
BOUND TO IMPRESS - slow to begin.
WILD EXCUSE - driver J Dunn reported he did not activate the mare's sliding blinds due to having the field covered.
DODGETHEBULLET - weakened on the final turn.
NORMAN RICHARDS - commenced to over-race near the 1200 metres when GO DAVEY improved to its outside.
FRANCO HAMPTON - late scratching at 10am on Veterinary advice.
PAY ME VISA - broke for several strides at the start.
CHILLER BAY - over-raced middle stages. Raced wide from the 700 metres.
KRUIZR - broke at the start adding to its 30 metre handicap.
Race 3   AIRPARK CANTERBURY HANDICAP TROT
GLOBE TREKKER - paced briefly at the start before breaking losing considerable ground.
THE PLAYER - broke approaching the 400 metres but soon settled. Driver J Dunn reported the gelding had trotted roughly throughout and was not able to be placed under any pressure after breaking. He added that it was the stable's intention to make alterations to the horse's shoeing.
IDLE MOOSE - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
MATUA TANA - paced briefly at the start. Broke approaching the 2200 metres losing ground and settling at the rear. Lay inwards throughout the final straight and as a result was not able to be fully tested. Driver R May advised he had not activated the gelding's sliding blinds.
SUNDONS FLYER - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Weakened near the 700 metres.
Race 4   McMILLAN EQUINE FEEDS SIRES' STAKES SERIES (HEAT 2) MOB PACE
CARDINAL SIN - commenced to weaken passing the 400 metres. Lay inwards leaving the final bend making contact with several track markers. When questioned regarding the performance, driver B Orange advised he had been very disappointed with the efforts of his gelding. Co-trainer C Dalgety was similarly disappointed but could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an elevated heart rate. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
SKIPPYS DELIGHT - held up early on the final turn.
VIRGIL - held up early on the final turn.
TOM MARTIN - had to be steadied off the back of ABOVE N BEYOND near the 1100 metres and paced roughly for several strides.
AQUA SANCTA - raced three wide until near the 1100 metres.
Race 5   CANTERBURY PRINT SERVICE LTD TROTTING CUP (HANDICAP TROT)
OSCAR BONAVENA - broke at the start losing ground before settling at the rear. Shifted up the track under pressure throughout the final straight.
DESTINY JONES - tended to over-race in the middle stages when outside the leader.
SUNDEES SON - broke under pressure approaching the 150 metres losing its chance.
Race 6   FAHEY FENCE HIRE MOBILE PACE
No racing incidents to report.
Race 7   LAMB & HAYWARD CANTERBURY CLASSIC (STAND PACE)
HENRY HUBERT - raced in restricted room near the 2400 metres and in consequence raced over several track markers causing the gelding to pace roughly.
NANDOLO - broke approaching the 2400 metres. Over-raced through the middle stages. When spoken to regarding the performance, driver J Cox explained one of the hopple shorteners had released prematurely which had caused the gelding to become unbalanced and break. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a significant cut on the near fore coronet. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
SPANKEM - had to be momentarily steadied near the 2500 metres when pressure from an outside runner caused him to race in restricted room.
CHASE AUCKLAND - broke at the start losing ground before settling at the rear. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance, driver T Williams could only advise he had been very disappointed with the horse's effort. Co-trainer N Rasmussen advised it was the stable's intention to have blood tests taken on Monday and undertook to notify Stewards of the result. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery.
A G'S WHITE SOCKS - raced wide from the 700 metres. When spoken to regarding the gelding's performance, co-trainer G Hope could only advise he had been disappointed with its effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up on the recovery of the gelding in the coming days.
ULTIMATE SNIPER - broke shortly after the start settling towards the rear.
CLASSIE BRIGADE - driver J Dunn was issued with a caution for the manner in which he shifted ground near the 2500 metres which briefly caused SPANKEM to race in restricted room.
Race 8   WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE PACE
VERA STANHOPE - unable to maintain its barrier position until dispatch. Gave ground from the 600 metres. Trainer/driver T Grant advised it was his intention to re-consider the mare's racing future in the coming days.
ALYSSA DELIGHT - raced roughly in the early stages and had to be steadied.
SCORCHA - raced wide early stages.
FLYING STEPS - raced wide early stages. When spoken to regarding the performance, driver B Butcher advised he had been disappointed with the mare's effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. Stewards will follow up on the recovery of the mare in the coming days.
GHOSTWRITER - held up throughout the run home when unable to obtain clear running. Driver M Anderson reported he had not activated the mare's removable gear in consequence. An inquiry was opened into the manner in which driver M Anderson drove over the final 400 metres. A further inquiry was opened into Mr Anderson's non-attendance at the investigation.
Race 9   SPECTATORS BIRTHDAY - FREE BBQ & ENTERTAINMENT - 13 OCT TROT
BRIGHT GLOW - driver I Cameron was spoken to advisedly regarding the manner he drove near the 1400 metres when briefly causing JERRY GARCIA to race wider on the track.
THE EYE OF THE TIGER - broke in the early stages losing all chance.
SOME TIME - broke at the start.
FAR FROM TRUE - broke at the start. Broke again passing the 600 metres.
DEBORAHS GEM - broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
MONRIKA - broke briefly at the start.
SHOW ME THE GRAY - broke at the start.
MILLY AN EYRE - hampered in the early stages. Over-raced when in the parked position with driver R May unable to surrender that position to the improving RED HARBOUR despite his efforts.
JERRY GARCIA - raced wide in the early and middle stages.
SPY DA MOMENT - broke after 100 metres. Again broke near the 1900 metres.
RED HARBOUR - hampered in the early stages. Lay inwards passing the 1000 metres when attempting to improve three wide and raced wide for the remainder of the event.
Race 10   AVON CITY FORD - RAPTOR MOBILE PACE
ALL NUTS N BOLTS - had to be restrained near the 300 metres when crowded for racing room.
EVERY OPTION - broke early in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
ASCALABUS - driver J Keast will be spoken to in the coming days regarding the manner in which he shifted ground near the 300 metres.
TIEBREAKER - held up near the 400 metres.
KOENIGSEGG - paced roughly near the 400 metres when trailing the leader and lost ground before finishing on in the run home into 5th placing.
THE GENERAL - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
