Race 8 - WAIRAU COVERS MARLBOROUGH WINTER CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
Driver M Anderson (SMOKIN BY) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations inside the final 400 metres. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Mr Anderson's Horseman's Licence from the conclusion of racing on 7 July up to and including 19 July (3 days.)
Mr Anderson (SMOKIN BY) defended a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 1300 metres by shifting inwards when insufficiently clear of STORM PRINCE which was checked. After viewing replays and hearing the evidence, the JCA upheld the charge and Mr Anderson's Horseman's Licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on 19 July up to and including 21 July (1 day) and in addition was fined $300.
