ABBY GOLIGHTLY - had to be steadied racing into the first bend when crowded for racing room. | |
DON'T TELL ANGE - driver A Mugford (assisted by J Cox) was spoken to regarding the manner in which she shifted ground in the early stages which restricted the racing room available to ABBY GOLIGHTLY. Driver A Mugford (assisted by J Cox) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that she used her whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of the Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $200. When spoken to regarding the mare's improved performance, trainer A Mugford reported that the mare had derived benefit from the application of blinds and had performed well at a recent Workout in preparation. | |
CHAMPERS - weakened over the final stages. Driver R Close reported the filly had been forced to work too hard through the early stages. | |
ROBYNS MAJOR - hung inwards throughout the run home. When questioned regarding the performance, driver M Anderson explained he had been disappointed with her efforts when asked to quicken inside the final 400 metres. Trainer S Dolan advised the horse had only had limited experience at trials and was perhaps undeserving of its status as favourite. | |
DEJA BLUE - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier record. |

DOLLY JONES - broke in the early stages losing considerable ground. Driver G Smith reported his mare to have been awkward in its action throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed some sensitivity to the lower back and left hock. Stewards will follow up with trainer D Hunter in the coming days. | |
FAST WET N WINDEE - broke passing the 800 metres. | |
CRUSHER COLLINS - raced wide in the early stages. When spoken to regarding the performance, both trainer L Bond and driver J Dunn felt the mare had to work too hard through the early stages. | |

JAGUAR BAY - trotted roughly near the 600 metres and lost ground when being steadied. Continued to trot roughly thereafter and was distanced over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. |
