Driver G Smith defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when striking the sulky wheel of SMOKIN BY near the 200 metres resulting in his runner breaking. After viewing replays and hearing the evidence the JCA upheld the charge and imposed a fine of $300. | |

SMOKIN BY - shifted inwards near the 1300 metres when improving to the lead and struck the front leg of STORM PRINCE which paced roughly. Stewards issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) against driver M Anderson alleging he drove carelessly at this stage of the race with the matter being adjourned by the JCA sine die. Mr Anderson will also be spoken to regarding his whip use in the home straight. |
