Race 1   ASURE SUNDOWNER MOTEL HANDICAP TROT
BLINK N BONES - broke passing the 200 metres.
FOLLY'S TROUBLE - broke briefly at the start.
MAJESTIC ACTION - over-raced through the middle stages.
THE NIGHT SWEATS - broke at the start.
MIDSUMMER QUEEN - broke entering the first bend losing considerable ground.
DR CLIFF - broke approaching the 250 metres.
GOTTA TICKET - broke at the start before switching to a pace losing considerable ground. Broke again near the 300 metres.
ALDEBARAN BONNY - trotted roughly throughout the home straight and was unable to be driven out. Driver C DeFilippi advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
Race 2   RENWICK MEATS MOBILE PACE
CONQUISTADOR - driver J Dunn advised he elected not to activate the hopple shorteners due to the gelding pacing roughly throughout.
BEAUDIENE OVERTAKE - hung inwards rounding the first bend.
JUST HOLLA - raced wide early stages before being restrained to the rear.
OLIVE COOK - when questioned in regards to the seemingly disappointing performance of the mare driver T Williams advised that in his opinion it did not back up from its first day run.
SWISH - unable to maintain its position behind the mobile despite the efforts of driver C Thornley. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Weakened from the 800 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
BADGER'S GIRL - weakened from the 900 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the filly.
BONNY'S GEM - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
Race 3   MORE FM MOBILE PACE
MR SIMPLY THE BEST - weakened from the 600 metres.
CHRISTIAN COMMAND - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. The connections advised the gelding would be sent for a spell.
POCKET ROCKNROLL - improved forward to lead rounding the first bend before being challenged for a short distance by JESSIE KELLY passing the 1600 metres. Junior driver K Gill (assisted by C DeFilippi) was shown a replay and advised to be more decisive when restraining her runner to obtain cover. Weakened from the 1000 metres. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the horse. The connections advised that POCKET ROCKNROLL would be sent for a spell.
THE OPTIMIST - over-raced in the middle stages.
KAYLA MAGUIRE - lay inwards near the 150 metres and had to be corrected by driver J Curtin.
LILAC CHANGE - over-raced in the middle stages.
HANDS UP JACK - raced greenly in the score up and through the early stages.
I CAN REMEMBER - driver S O'Reilly was warned for the manner she approached the mobile barrier. Held up by a tiring runner passing the 900 metres. Weakened from the 600 metres.
Race 4   GROVE TAVERN MOBILE PACE
DONEGAL CARNBOUY - held up early stages of the run home. Driver J Dunn advised he elected not to activate the hopple shorteners.
ARCANO - held up early stages of the run home. Checked near the 200 metres.
SHE'S OUTSTANDING - over-raced approaching the front straight on the first occasion when being restrained to obtain cover. Weakened leaving the final bend. Hung inwards near the 200 metres checking inside runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
CONTRACTUAL ISSUES - held up until near the 200 metres. Shifted inwards passing the 200 metres. Driver K Newman (assisted by R May) was shown a replay and warned for his lack of control when allowing his runner to shift ground abruptly.
ALL NUTS N BOLTS - raced three wide without cover from the 1200 metres.
TROMPEUR - driver S Anderson admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations and was fined $300 by the JCA.
ROZZANO - over-raced through the middle stages. Badly held up early stages of the run home. Forced over pylons and broke passing the 200 metres.
BONNIE BOY - held up early stages of the run home.
Race 5   TYRE GENERAL BLENHEIM HANDICAP PACE
MORDECAI - held up for clear racing room passing the 200 metres.
BORN TO RUN - broke at the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer M Purvis.
PINE CONE - held up early stages of the run home.
MORNINGSTAR GOLD - when spoken to regarding the performance trainer/driver R Holmes advised he was disappointed with the effort and was of the opinion the gelding had failed to back up from its first day run.
SIPPINONJACK -driver T Williams reported he did not activate the sliding blinds due to having the field covered.
Race 6   SUBWAY MARLBOROUGH LINES STADIUM 2000 HANDICAP TROT
REDWOOD INVASION - broke briefly passing the 200 metres and again near the 150 metres. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the home straight.
UNIQUE ROSE - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home. Broke near the 200 metres.
UNIQUE MARSHALL - broke passing the 1600 metres and continued on in a break for a considerable distance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
CLIFDEN CLOWERS - broke after 200 metres losing considerable ground. Locked wheels with MR FAHRENHEIT rounding the final bend losing its chance.
IDEAL INVASION - broke after 300 metres. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages. A warning was placed on the racing record of the horse. Trainer J Clementson advised that IDEAL INVASION would now be sent for a spell.
MR FAHRENHEIT - over-raced in the middle stages. Hung inwards when improving wider on the track rounding the final bend and locked wheels with CLIFDEN CLOWERS losing its chance.
RENEZMAE - the boring pole was removed prior to the start due to the mare warming up unfavourably.
Race 7   DUNSTAN HORSE FEEDS MOBILE PACE
JENORA - held up early stages of the run home.
MAURICE - hung inwards final bend when weakening.
GIVEMEWHATINEED - cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts. The connections advised the gelding would be sent for a brief spell.
Race 8   WAIRAU COVERS MARLBOROUGH WINTER CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
THE KAIK - hampered near the 1300 metres. Held up early and middle stages of the run home. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 200 metres.
PADDYPROUDFOOT - over-raced middle stages. Held up early stages of the run home before breaking near the 200 metres. Driver G Smith defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when striking the sulky wheel of SMOKIN BY near the 200 metres resulting in his runner breaking. After viewing replays and hearing the evidence the JCA upheld the charge and imposed a fine of $300.
DOITSON - hampered near the 1300 metres.
SMARTER VC - tangled away. Hampered near the 1300 metres.
STORM PRINCE - placed in restricted room and paced roughly near the 1300 metres after striking the sulky wheel of SMOKIN BY which shifted inwards.
GO DAVEY - broke at the start.
SMOKIN BY - shifted inwards near the 1300 metres when improving to the lead and struck the front leg of STORM PRINCE which paced roughly. Stewards issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) against driver M Anderson alleging he drove carelessly at this stage of the race with the matter being adjourned by the JCA sine die. Mr Anderson will also be spoken to regarding his whip use in the home straight.
Race 9   WATERLEA RACECOURSE CENTENARY JANUARY 2020 MOBILE PACE
LYDIA - held up for clear racing room over the concluding stages.
SCOTLYNN HARRY - trainer D Taylor was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after presenting the gelding to race with sliding blinds which had not been notified.
MISTER MIGHTY - raced wide early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field.
GIVE HIM A CHANCE - a side carrier broke on the gelding during the running. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously satisfactory condition.
SNOW PRINTZ - trainer B Johnson advised that the gelding would race with a different bit after over-racing at its last start.
FYNN FROST - hung inwards when improving wide through the middle stages.
