Driver J Dunn admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $200. | |

Mr Harrington advised that the mare had commenced to choke down and that he would no longer be persevering with the horse from his stable. | |

THE DOORMAN - shifted outwards in the early stages of the run home. Hung outwards for the remainder of the home straight. Stewards questioned Drivers J Cox (THE DOORMAN) and B Williamson (HOT STARFF) regarding an incident passing the 200 metres when HOT STARFF paced roughly. After hearing from both Drivers it was established that HOT STARFF had hung inwards despite the efforts of Mr Williamson and shifted down the track simultaneous to THE DOORMAN shifting outwards resulting in HOT STARFF pacing roughly for a short distance after making contact with the sulky of THE DOORMAN. Notwithstanding this Mr Cox was warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground. | |
HOT STARFF - hung inwards and paced roughly near the 200 metres after coming together with THE DOORMAN. | |
NO MORE CHANGE - Junior Driver J Campbell, with the assistance of J Cox, admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 2400 metres when shifting inwards resulting in VIGOROSO being checked and breaking. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Mr Campbell's Horseman's Licence from the conclusion of racing on 4 April up to and including 13 April 2019 (2 days) and imposed a fine of $100. Mr Campbell defended a breach of Rule 869(2) alleging that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After viewing replays and hearing the evidence, the JCA upheld the charge and Mr Campbell was fined $200. | |

A post race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities however the on-course Veterinarian recommended further tests be carried out. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance. Stewards will follow up with Trainer B Hutton in the coming days. | |
