Stewards held an investigation into this incident. After hearing evidence from Junior Driver F Schumacher (ALWAYS B AN ANGEL) who declined the assistance of a senior driver, Junior Driver J Dunn (FIFTH AND FINAL) assisted by R Lawson and viewing the replays it was established that Mr Dunn had conducted his outward movement in a gradual and acceptable manner. However ALWAYS B AN ANGEL had thrown wide with its near hind outside its sulky confines contributing to the contact being made. Given the circumstances Stewards took the matter no further. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the left hind which was treated.
