Both runners were sent to the Unruly by the Starter for the restart where they will remain for future standing starts. FATHER ON DOWN - lay inwards and broke briefly rounding the final bend and then raced over track markers. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully driven out by driver E Swain. Authorisation of this runner's 4th placing was withheld until the Stewards confirmed the gelding had not gained an advantage when racing over track markers and had also complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation. Trainer E Swain advised he would be giving consideration to making gear changes.

When questioned regarding the performance driver M Hurrell advised that after being hampered rounding the first bend and racing wider on the track near the 1700m the gelding had then worked hard to obtain the parked position with the effort taking its toll over the concluding stages, adding he was not disappointed with the run. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.
