When questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams advised the filly had raced lethargically throughout and he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

FATHER ON DOWN - broke rounding the final bend after making contact with the sulky wheel of MODE losing ground. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation. Driver R McIlwrick defended a subsequent charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from all parties the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and after considering submissions on penalty imposed a fine of $250.
