Both drivers advised that due to the speed of the mobile in the score up and it being positioned wider on the track they were both reluctant to chase their respective runners from outside barriers after being placed in restricted room rounding the bend. After speaking with Starter B Ward and viewing the replays Stewards accepted their explanation in relation to this matter.

TOSANA - a post-race veterinary examination at the request of connections revealed a slow recovery.

CAPTAINS MISTRESS - held up rounding the final bend and early in the run home. Stewards questioned driver N Williamson regarding the tactics he adopted during the running. Mr Williamson explained that after working hard in the early stages to obtain the lead from a wide draw, he was then challenged by the improving QUEEN TYRON near the 1200m and decided to take a trail to give his filly some respite. Shortly thereafter, GENERAL JEN improved forward to take the lead near the 900m resulting in a marked increase in tempo. Mr Williamson stated that he elected not to shift wider near the 800m to race in the parked position as he believed this would have been detrimental to his filly's chances given the early effort expended. He further explained that he was held up rounding the final bend due to a decrease in tempo, but once clear in the home straight the filly had finished off strongly. After considering the matter, Stewards were satisfied that Mr Williamson's tactics were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.

CAPTAINS MISTRESS - the sulky seat shifted in the run home unbalancing driver N Williamson and causing him difficulty over the concluding stages.

CAPTAINS MISTRESS - driver N Williamson was issued a warning for crossing his reins late in the run home to perform a celebratory gesture. Mr Williamson admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Williamson's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 17 November up to and including 27 November 2024 (5 days) and imposed a fine of $600.

Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule however after viewing replays it was established that RASPALIA had never been racing closer in than three wide and BETTER BE QUICK had shifted out to fill the vacant position in the running line. Accordingly, no further action was necessary.

Stood down for the mandatory 30 days with a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination required prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.
