MOON LIGHT TERROR - paced roughly shortly after the start. Lay inwards rounding the bends. Raced wide from the 700m. Again paced roughly in the middle stages of the run home.
MOON LIGHT TERROR - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. Broke briefly shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Lay in rounding the bends.
SHOWCASE - paced roughly rounding the final bend. Briefly locked sulky wheels with SHEZABETTORGIRL near the 300m and paced roughly for a short distance thereafter. Observed to have blood present on the right hind leg on return to the birdcage enclosure with a post-race veterinary examination revealing the filly to have a superficial wound which did not require treatment.
The start of this race was delayed approximately 6 minutes due firstly to St John Ambulance personnel attending to driver P Hunter and secondly the sulky tyre on SHOWCASE deflating in the preliminary requiring a change of sulky. As a consequence, Stewards showed leniency in assessing horse penalties for this race due to the long delay.

HALEY ROBYN - raced wide early. When asked to comment on the performance driver C Williamson advised that racing wide early had taken its toll on the mare over the concluding stages.
PARADISE VALLEY - when questioned regarding the perceived improved performance trainer N Aitken advised the mare had benefitted from a return to the grass track and had received a run to suit today.
TASHS BAD GIRL - when spoken to regarding the improved performance trainer A Kyle advised the mare had been working well in the lead up after being recently treated for muscle tie up prior to its previous start and he was not surprised by the forward showing.
BETTER BE WATCHING - lay in leaving the final bend contacting and racing inside a track marker. Unable to obtain clear racing room throughout the run home. Locked sulky wheels with RAKNRUIN passing the 20m.
RAKNRUIN - raced three wide through the middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Barclay advised he was disappointed and could offer no explanation.
FERNZ GOLDY - held up final bend. Shifted out near the 100m when not clear hampering outside runners. Driver R Close admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $350.
FERNZ GOLDY - raced four wide early and then three wide until reaching the parked position passing the 1550m. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 400m.
FERNZ GOLDY - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer D Reardon advised the mare had responded well to the blinds being removed from its gear and had been suited to leading today.
TUNEINSPORTSFANS - weakened early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised that although the gelding was racing up in grade he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ROBYNS HUSTLER - driver H Douglas reported he was unable to release the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled. Held up by a weakening runner final bend.

After hearing from Miss Goodman and Mr Williamson, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 868(2), which Miss Goodman defended, alleging she failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure her runner finished in the best possible position. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from all parties the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge.
SHERGAR - trainer T Dewe was warned for presenting the gelding with blinds and removable deafeners which were not notified. Forced to race four wide from the 600m. Paced roughly rounding the final bend.
COSMIC STAR - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner. Driver R Close advised he had been unable to activate the near side hopple shortener due to the cord becoming entangled.

Stewards lodged a protest against 5th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the mare had broken in excess of 150m in the early stages. The connections did not contest the protest and MADISON'S MOON was disqualified by Stewards.

When asked to comment on the improved performance driver R Austin advised that the gelding had raced without luck when held up in its most recent start, adding that he was not surprised by the forward showing today.
FRANCO ELVIS - raced wide early. Jostled for a position with SHE'S A JEWEL in the early stages. Held up throughout the run home. Driver G Thornley advised she did not activate the sliding blinds and removable deafeners in consequence.
SHE'S A JEWEL - weakened final bend hampering trailing runners. When asked to comment on the performance trainer/driver M Williamson advised the mare had raced lethargically throughout and he was disappointed. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Mr Williamson advised he would have blood tests conducted on the mare in the coming days. Stewards will follow up the results.
FRANCO CHAPLIN - held up early stages of the run home. Authorisation of placings was withheld until Stewards had viewed the photo finish and confirmed the Judge's call of a dead heat for 4th place between SHE'S A JEWEL and FRANCO CHAPLIN after being unable to identify the nose of FRANCO CHAPLIN which was obstructed by the nose flap. Stewards opened an investigation regarding this matter and will speak to trainer B Waldron in the coming days.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.
LA DAMA - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Broke over the concluding stages and failed to settle. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
LA DAMA - broke racing into the first bend losing ground and was retired from the event. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of muscle tie-up. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming.

ABULL - broke rounding the final bend losing all chance. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
ABULL - hampered near the 200m and had to be steadied after an inside runner shifted outwards. Driver B McLellan was warned for the manner he drove rounding the first bend when easing the pace, resulting in trailing runners being hampered.
A false start was declared at the first attempt when CHRISTIES ART swung sideways hampering trailing runners. The filly was placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
CHRISTIES ART - swung sideways leaving the pre-race formation hampering another runner and lost ground however was in position at the candy pole. Broke shortly after the start but soon settled. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier manners. Over-raced middle stages.
