Stewards spoke with driver S Thornley (LOU WILL) who confirmed that his gelding had proved difficult to steer and had lay out on the final bend.

Miss Tomlinson explained she elected not to shift out and follow ULTIMATE PERFECTION forward in the three wide line due to the manner in which that runner was pacing at the time. After hearing her explanation and viewing the replays Stewards noted Miss Tomlinson's comments.
