A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled. Stood down for the mandatory period of 30 days with connections advised a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination prior to completing a satisfactory trial would be required prior to BILL BOOTIT resuming racing.

Stewards questioned Junior Driver E Johnson (AND REMEMBER ME) (assisted by T Mitchell), Drivers T Herlihy (LIL WHIP) and J Abernethy (HENRIK LUNDQVIST) regarding this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing the relative evidence Stewards could not solely attribute blame to any one horse or driver. Notwithstanding this Mr Herlihy and Mr Abernethy were reminded of their obligations given similar circumstances in the future. In considering this matter Stewards took into account that Mr Herlihy had been placed at a disadvantage after losing his safety glasses near the 1600m as well as the outward movement of HENRIK LUNDQVIST contributing to the incident.
