In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful of Miss Kyle's inexperience in relation to race day driving.

TASHS BAD GIRL - when spoken to regarding the improved performance trainer A Kyle advised the mare had been working well in the lead up after being recently treated for muscle tie up prior to its previous start and he was not surprised by the forward showing.

ROBYNS HUSTLER - contacted the final track marker prior to the passing lane. Stewards withheld authorisation of 3rd placing until they had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the gelding had not gained an advantage at this stage of the race. Junior driver M Hill, who declined the assistance of a senior driver, admitted a charge under Rule 869(7A)(a) in that he allowed his horse to contact a track marker near the 200m. After viewing replays and considering penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $150.

Stewards questioned driver M Hill regarding the manner he drove near the 1400m when he restrained his runner which allowed PARADISE VALLEY to shift in to take a position in the running line. Mr Hill explained he was aware that if he did not take hold he would have been pushed down to the marker line by the runner to his outside which he felt would have been detrimental to his chances. Stewards noted Mr Hill's comments.

A false start was declared when BOMBAY GLACIER broke in the score up checking a second line runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Driver E Barron elected to remain in her allocated barrier position for the restart.

MONTAGE - contacted the near side sulky wheel of CLAASEE when trailing that runner near the 1200m when driver D Anderson was activating gear, then paced roughly briefly hampering trailing runners. Mr Anderson, assisted by B Williamson, defended a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and following penalty submissions imposed a fine of $250.

CLAASEE - driver R McIlwrick reported that he sustained a punctured sulky tyre which came off the rim racing into the first bend when racing to the inside of TUNEINSPORTSFANS, with the mare being retired from the race. After speaking with drivers R McIlwrick and S Ottley (TUNEINSPORTSFANS) and viewing the replays which proved inconclusive, Stewards were unable to apportion fault to any one horse or driver and accordingly took the matter no further.

Awkwardly placed and struck the sulky wheel of CLAASEE when both runners shifted ground simultaneously near the 400m, with the tyre puncturing as a consequence. After hearing from drivers R McIlwrick (CLAASEE) and M Hurrell (GLENKENICK) no one driver was deemed to be at fault with the matter taken no further.
