Driver J Morrison admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Morrison's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 28 October until the conclusion of racing on 04 November 2024, 4 days and imposed a fine of $300.

DURRANT - raced three wide with cover from the 800m. Briefly held up by a weakening runner final bend.

DURRANT - connections advised the gelding has had its joints treated since last racing.

FOREVER ARDEN - broke briefly in the score up and was out of the Unruly position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke near the 900m losing ground. Paced roughly throughout the run home and was unable to be fully driven out in consequence. When asked to comment on the performance driver O Kite advised that the gelding had lost a plate shortly after the start and failed to handle the grass track. Trainer W Adams advised it was his intention to avoid racing the gelding on grass tracks for the foreseeable future.

FOREVER ARDEN - broke passing the 1900m losing ground. Paced roughly on various occasions during the running. When questioned regarding the performance Driver R McIlwrick confirmed that the gelding had paced roughly throughout. Cast the near fore plate during the running. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slight abrasion to an outside heel, a slow recovery and to be showing signs of nasal discharge. Stewards will follow up with Trainer W Adams in the coming days.

FOREVER ARDEN - broke shortly after the start hampering trailing runners. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts. Paced roughly at various stages throughout. Authorisation of this runner's 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule racing into the first bend after R McIlwrick (FOREVER ARDEN) shifted outwards when racing to the inside of ROBYNS ART. After viewing replays and hearing from Driver K Tomlinson (ROBYNS ART), it was established that ROBYNS ART had been racing in the three wide line and had not been forced wider by FOREVER ARDEN. Accordingly, Stewards took the matter no further.

FOREVER ARDEN - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Authorisation of this runner's 2nd placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied FOREVER ARDEN had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.

When asked to comment on the performance Driver R McIlwrick advised the gelding had done some work early however notwithstanding that he was disappointed with the effort. Trainer W Adams advised he will have blood tests conducted on the gelding and undertook to notify the Stewards of the results.

Driver R McIlwrick elected to start from the Unruly position for the restart where CAPTAIN STARLIGHT will remain for future mobile starts.
