THE MERC - weakened from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Driver B Williamson advised that the colt had over-raced in the early stages and had disappointed when going to pull up near the 600m.

THE MERC - pulled hard during the middle stages when leading. Lay in early in the run home despite the efforts of Driver B Williamson and shifted down into the passing lane. A warning was placed on the colt's racing manners however notwithstanding this Mr Williamson was reminded of his obligations given similar circumstances in the future. Mr Williamson advised that this runner had been contacting its wheel discs causing it to over-race and that Trainer K Bublitz would be making corrective gear change prior to resuming.

DON AMECHE - tangled away. Broke passing the 1800m losing ground. Stood down to trial on one occasion to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when breaking near the 1800m.

JAY BEE HILL - out of position at the start. Driver B Wallace was warned for delaying the start when taking too long to be in his rightful position.

JAY BEE HILL - lay in contacting track markers at stages throughout. Trotted roughly when laying in rounding the final bend. Trainer/driver B Wallace confirmed the filly had hung inwards on the bends during the running and he would be making gear changes in an effort to rectify this tendency.
