CAPTAIN AMORE - forced BANSHEE ABBEY wider on the track rounding the first bend. Driver B Williamson admitted a subsequent breach of the Push Out Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) and after viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.

C C ARDEN - weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Chmiel advised the gelding had been making abnormal breathing noises during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

C C ARDEN - broke near the 200m losing all chance and was pulled up shortly after the finish line. Transported from the track by the Horse Ambulance after showing signs of lameness. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the left hind leg and the gelding was stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.

Trainer J Douglas advised Stewards on 24 March that ALWAYS BE BATMAN has been treated for a virus since last racing.

ALWAYS BE BATMAN - lay in leaving the final bend and contacted HERE'S JOHNY which broke in consequence losing all chance. Driver N Williamson was issued with a subsequent charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that he drove carelessly in this incident. The matter was adjourned by the Adjudicative Committee to be heard on Wednesday 12 March. Continued to lay in at stages in the run home.

COMMANDER JOE - Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1600m after COMMANDER JOE briefly raced wider on the track when FIVE CROWNS shifted ground outwards. After speaking to driver M Williamson (COMMANDER JOE) and viewing the replays it was established driver B Orange (FIVE CROWNS) had commenced his outward movement prior to COMMANDER JOE reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.

Driver S Thornley was issued a warning for the manner in which he drove when placing an inside runner in restricted room and over a track marker near the 1600m before being corrected. FLASHPOINT - paced roughly before breaking rounding the first bend hampering trailing runners and losing some ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination after returning to the birdcage with blood present on the near front leg and received treatment for a slight laceration above the hoof.
