11/24 Ashburton NON-WINNERS 3YO+ PACE 2400m (8) 9 lengths 3-00.1
11/24 Invcargill 3YO+, with cond. MOB. PACE 2200m (7) 1 3/4 lengths 2-43.3
ALWAYS ON SALE - out of position at the start. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts. Hampered by a breaking runner passing the 1100m. Held up final bend and early stages of the run home.
ALWAYS ON SALE - fractious and slow to leave the pre-race formation and was out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver B Barclay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced fiercely passing the 1500m causing driver B Barclay considerable difficulty being awkwardly placed on the back of TOBY TOM B and broke briefly before being shifted wider on the track for safety reasons. A warning was also placed on the racing record of the gelding. Weakened final bend hampering trailing runners.
ALWAYS ON SALE - broke in the score up however was in position at the start. Driver E Barron reported she did not release the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
ALWAYS ON SALE - cast the near fore shoe near the 1800m. Driver B Orange advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
For R41 to R50 4yo-&-older pacers. This race is for Junior Drivers only. Rating Penalty Free Race. For horses who have not previously won a rating penalty free race this season.
SINAI SERMON - weakened early in the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted during the running, driver C Dalgety advised that after obtaining cover in the early stages his horse had begun to over-race so he elected to improve forward near the 1500m in an attempt to obtain the lead. SINAI SERMON then commenced to lay inwards near the 1200m when attempting to cross the pace-making FLYING BIRD and consequently despite his efforts he had been unable to improve to that position. Mr Dalgety added that when he became aware that FLYING BIRD was under pressure near the 600m he felt his best option was to improve forward again in an attempt to cross to the marker line. After considering his explanation Stewards were satisfied Mr Dalgety's tactics were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.

KENSI - over-raced for a distance passing the 1300m and briefly raced wider on the track when GATI shifted ground outwards. Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule however after viewing replays and speaking with driver S Ottley it was established that driver B Orange (GATI) had commenced his outwards movement prior to KENSI reaching his sulky wheel with no further action deemed necessary. Over-raced and struck the sulky wheel of GATI which had lay inwards near the 1100m. After speaking with Ms Ottley regarding this incident and considering her explanation a warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Notwithstanding this Ms Ottley was reminded of her obligations when in similar circumstances.
KENSI - back from the Unruly position at the start. Became awkwardly placed near the sulky wheel of DIXIELAND DELIGHT when hanging outwards near the 950m and raced three wide without cover thereafter. Driver S Ottley reported she did not release the hopple shorteners due to the mare pacing comfortably with the shorteners in.
A false start was declared when KENSI broke in the score up checking second line runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Driver S Ottley elected to move to the Unruly position for the restart where the filly will remain for future mobiles.

01/25 Nelson HRC NON-WINNERS 3YO+ MOB. PACE 1609m (1) 1/2 neck 1-56.8
LIGHT ME UP - broke racing into the first bend when racing to the inside of DON JUAN which shifted ground inwards with trailing runners being checked losing all chance and was retired from the race. Stewards questioned drivers B Orange (LIGHT ME UP) and R Harrison (DON JUAN) assisted by J Morrison, regarding LIGHT ME UP breaking and after considering their evidence Mr Orange was issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly when failing to concede his position. Mr Orange admitted the charge and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Orange's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 9 February up to and including 16 February 2025 (4 days).
LIGHT ME UP - briefly hampered when an inside runner shifted outwards leaving the final bend. Driver B Orange's foot made contact with the hind leg of the gelding early in the run home when he activated the removable deafeners. After viewing the replays and speaking with Mr Orange it was established that his right foot had become entangled in the gaiting strap attached to the sulky causing him difficulty with the contact being accidental.
LIGHT ME UP - raced wide early. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Dalgety advised he was very disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. The connections advised they would give consideration to sending the gelding for a spell.
LIGHT ME UP - raced wide with cover from the 1000m. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange could offer no explanation other than to advise the gelding had hung during the running. Trainer T Bamford advised that he expected the gelding to derive benefit from the race in what was its first start for the stable after being freshened.

TUNEINSPORTSFANS - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer T Stratford stated that the gelding had been unlucky at its previous start, received a run to suit today and appreciates racing on the grass.
MATAURA B B - broke passing the 800m losing ground. Weakened over the concluding stages. Stewards spoke with drivers J Cox (MATAURA B B) and M Hurrell (NYLA) regarding the incident near the 800m where MATAURA B B broke. It was established that when Mr Hurrell pushed Mr Cox wider on the track at this stage, MATAURA B B had lay in simultaneously to NYLA laying out with both drivers immediately taking corrective action, however the sulky wheel of NYLA touched the near hind leg of MATAURA B B which broke in consequence. After interviewing both drivers and reviewing the footage Stewards could not apportion fault to any one horse or driver and accordingly took the matter no further.
