MAGIC SIGN - locked sulky wheels briefly with EMERALD ABBEY near the 300m. Stewards spoke with drivers H Douglas (MAGIC SIGN) and P Hunter (EMERALD ABBEY) where it was established that MAGIC SIGN had attempted to shift EMERALD ABBEY wider on the track however MAGIC SIGN had hung outwards and EMERALD ABBEY was slow react to the movement. After viewing the films Stewards could not apportion blame to any one driver or horse and accordingly the matter was taken no further.

CHEZZ DALE - weakened from the 800m hampering trailing runners and was retired from the event by driver K Larsen. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with trainer K Larsen in the coming days.

NO ADDED SUGAR - raced wider on the track near the 1400m when JENNY GUMP shifted ground outwards. After viewing replays, it was established that driver S Walkinshaw (JENNY GUMP) had commenced his outwards movement prior to NO ADDED SUGAR reaching his sulky wheel, accordingly no further action was required. Placed in restricted room by an inside runner rounding the final bend and breaking near the 300m then locked sulky wheels with HAZER leaving the final bend and losing all chance.

Mr Nally also reported the gelding had cast a shoe during the running.

Driver N Williamson was issued a charge under Rule 869(4) and the Home Straight Regulations, the particulars being that he allowed his runner to shift into the passing lane for a distance passing the 200m resulting in RYLAN CHARLIE having to be steadied. The matter was adjourned sine die by the Adjudicative Committee.
