SHE'S TOUGH - over-raced early and middle stages when racing wide on the track. Unsuccessfully challenged for the lead through the middle stages. Weakened final bend and was crowded by outside runners. Stewards questioned driver R Reekie regarding the tactics he adopted through the middle stages when unsuccessfully challenging JUBILEE ROCK for the lead before weakening. After considering his explanation, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(g) alleging he drove in a manner capable of diminishing his chances of winning by failing to give his horse sufficient respite when continuing to apply pressure to JUBILEE ROCK which was leading through the middle stages. Mr Reekie admitted the charge and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Reekie's Amateur driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 1 September 2024 (4 months).

Raced greenly in the middle stages placing driver M Williamson in difficulty. Weakened from the 700m. Mr Williamson reported the gelding had locked on one rein. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. A warning was placed on the racing record of HACKSAW RIDGE.

STILL ROCKIN - hung inwards rounding the final bend and was awkwardly placed close to the sulky of HACKSAW RIDGE which had shifted ground marginally and broke hampering trailing runners. Stewards questioned drivers M Hill (STILL ROCKIN), assisted by C Barron, and N Williamson (HACKSAW RIDGE) in relation to this. After hearing from both drivers and viewing replays, Stewards could not apportion sole blame to any one driver and accordingly took the matter no further other than to place a warning on the racing record of STILL ROCKIN.

BROOKIES PLAYER - weakened from the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG before completing one trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.

Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until driver D Butcher (THE SURFER) placed 4th, advised his chances had not been affected. Junior driver H Douglas (assisted by J Dunn) was shown a replay and issued a warning to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home in future.
