LIGHT ME UP - broke racing into the first bend when racing to the inside of DON JUAN which shifted ground inwards with trailing runners being checked losing all chance and was retired from the race. Stewards questioned drivers B Orange (LIGHT ME UP) and R Harrison (DON JUAN) assisted by J Morrison, regarding LIGHT ME UP breaking and after considering their evidence Mr Orange was issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly when failing to concede his position. Mr Orange admitted the charge and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Orange's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 9 February up to and including 16 February 2025 (4 days).

Driver B Williamson defended a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations alleging that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Williamson the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $250.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed DARE DEVIL had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG before completing one trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.

SOPHIA BROMAC - hampered by a breaking runner near the 300m. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Stewards questioned Junior driver J Dunn (assisted by S Tomlinson) regarding the manner he drove between the 500m and the 400m of particular concern was his decision not to shift ground outwards when clearance existed prior to being covered by outside runners. Mr. Dunn advised that runners had improved rapidly with his mare causing him some difficulty at this point. He further added that shortly after he was hampered by a breaking runner and had this not occurred a run would have been available . After hearing from all parties and viewing the replays, Stewards advised Mr. Dunn not to leave his drives open to query in future when assessing this Stewards took into account Mr. Dunn's inexperience.
