THE MERC - pulled hard during the middle stages when leading. Lay in early in the run home despite the efforts of Driver B Williamson and shifted down into the passing lane. A warning was placed on the colt's racing manners however notwithstanding this Mr Williamson was reminded of his obligations given similar circumstances in the future. Mr Williamson advised that this runner had been contacting its wheel discs causing it to over-race and that Trainer K Bublitz would be making corrective gear change prior to resuming.

A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Stewards lodged a protest against the promoted 4th placing being awarded to the gelding under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging WHISPERING MAJESTIC had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. After viewing the replays driver J Morrison did not contest the protest and WHISPERING MAJESTIC was disqualified by the Stewards. Mr Morrison reported he would be recommending gear changes.

Mr Orange advised he would be recommending gear changes. Stewards lodged a protest against 5th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the mare had broken in excess of 150m in the early stages.
