SHAPELY - shifted outwards and struck the sulky wheel of CHRISTIAN BALE near the 250m and broke in consequence losing all chance. Junior driver S Hill, assisted by driver J Cox, defended a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from all parties the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and after considering submissions on penalty suspended Mr Hill's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 23 March up to and including 28 March 2025 (2 days).

When asked to comment on the performance trainer/driver M Williamson advised the mare had raced lethargically throughout and he was disappointed. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Mr Williamson advised he would have blood tests conducted on the mare in the coming days. Stewards will follow up the results.

Authorisation of placings was withheld until Stewards had viewed the photo finish and confirmed the Judge's call of a dead heat for 4th place between SHE'S A JEWEL and FRANCO CHAPLIN after being unable to identify the nose of FRANCO CHAPLIN which was obstructed by the nose flap. Stewards opened an investigation regarding this matter and will speak to trainer B Waldron in the coming days.

KOWHAI NUGGET - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Shifted outwards near the 100m checking an outside runner. Junior driver C Hackett (assisted by R Close) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly when shifting ground when insufficiently clear of ANYTIME AT ALL which was checked. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Hackett's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 15 April up to and including 22 April 2025 (3 days).
